But I'd be nervous running one as my primary DC-DC or inverter/charger on the boat. Narrowboat electrics can get properly messy — alternator input, solar, shoreline, lithium BMS interactions — and Victron just handles that gracefully.
What exactly did you swap? Because if it's just a solar controller, that's one thing. If it's the multiplus... blimey.

- Are you running lithium or AGM?
- Do you still have any Victron devices in the system?
- How are you monitoring state of charge now?
The saving upfront can evaporate fast if you lose the proper SOC visibility or end up with a BMS disconnect at an awkward moment on the cut.
