Victron MultiPlus-II 24/3000 tripping on induction hob — losing my mind here

Been running a MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-32 on my narrowboat for about eight months now, paired with a 280Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 bank (24v, two 12v 280Ah in series). Solar is two 200W panels through a SmartSolar 100/30. Generally the whole setup has been rock solid, but I've recently started getting nuisance trips when I fire up my 1800W induction hob — specifically a Duxtop 9600LS.

The MultiPlus is showing an overload warning (solid red on the charge LED, three flashes on the inverter LED if I'm reading the manual right) and cuts out after about 2–3 seconds at full power. What's confusing me is that 1800W should sit well within the 3000W continuous rating, and the bank voltage doesn't appear to be sagging badly — sitting around 25.8v under load according to the Cerbo GX. I've checked the AC output wiring and it's all 2.5mm² back to a proper consumer unit, so I don't think it's a resistance issue on the output side.

I'm wondering whether the induction hob's switching frequency is causing the MultiPlus to see a massive instantaneous current spike on startup, beyond what the inverter's short-term overload tolerance handles. Has anyone used VictronConnect to pull the inverter logs and seen what the actual peak draw looks like? I've got the VE.Bus cable somewhere but haven't dug into the full telemetry yet.

Also worth mentioning — this only started happening after I updated the MultiPlus firmware to v497. Was on v490 before and never saw this issue. Could be coincidence but the timing feels suspicious. Anyone else on a similar setup noticed behaviour changes after recent firmware updates?

@ExSquaddie49 The 3000VA MultiPlus-II is genuinely marginal for induction hobs — most pull 2000W sustained but the initial surge can spike considerably higher. A few things worth checking:

  1. What's your battery cable spec and length? Voltage sag under load will cause the inverter to trip before you'd expect
  2. Have you set the DC input low shutdown correctly in VEConfigure? LiFePO4 voltage curves are flatter than lead-acid, easy to misconfigure
  3. Which hob specifically? Some budget units have horrible power factor which stresses the inverter disproportionately

The 280Ah bank at 24v is borderline for sustained cooking loads too — you're looking at potentially 80-100A DC draw. I run a similar setup and switched to a boosted ring for the hob cabling which made a noticeable difference.
