Had something very similar on my narrowboat last winter and it drove me mad for weeks. The Multiplus was alarming at what looked like perfectly reasonable voltages on the display, but the issue turned out to be voltage sag under load rather than the resting voltage being genuinely low.
When you're pulling serious current, even a short cable run with slightly undersized wire can create enough of a voltage drop that the Multiplus sees something quite different at its terminals compared to what your battery monitor is reading. Worth checking:
- Are your battery cables adequately sized for the inverter's max draw?
- How close is the Multiplus physically to your battery bank?
- Have you checked the connections are properly torqued? Loose terminals are sneaky culprits
The other thing I'd look at is whether your low battery cut-off threshold in VEConfig is set sensibly. Mine had been left at factory defaults which were a bit aggressive for my Fogstar lithium setup — took me ages to realise.
Also, are you running a BMV or SmartShunt? If the Multiplus is relying solely on its own voltage sensing rather than a proper battery monitor connected via VE.Bus, it can be a bit unreliable.
What battery chemistry are you running and what's the cut-off currently set to in VEConfig? That might help narrow it down. Anyone else had this on a similar setup?
