Anyone else had issues with the VRM portal not picking up both AC inputs properly on a Multiplus-II setup?

Running a 12/3000 here and noticed similar weirdness — shore power connected, everything working fine physically, but the portal was only showing data on one input line. Took me ages to work out it wasn't actually a wiring fault.

In the UK context we're obviously not dealing with split-phase 50A like the American rigs, but the underlying VRM display issue seems to crop up regardless. Mine showed AC Input 1 data fine but AC Input 2 was just blank — no readings at all.

Few things worth checking if you're seeing this:

  • VE.Bus firmware — had to update mine via VictronConnect before the portal started logging both inputs correctly
  • Grid code settings — if you're set to the wrong region profile it can mess with how data gets reported
  • Venus OS version — older versions had known bugs around multi-input display on the dashboard

Ended up being a firmware thing for me. Did a full update through the Cerbo GX and everything populated properly within a few minutes of reconnecting.

Is anyone else running a Multiplus-II on a mobile/leisure setup and had similar VRM quirks? Curious whether this is more common on the 12V units specifically or if the 24V and 48V variants behave differently in the portal.

Worth logging a ticket with Victron support if the firmware route doesn't sort it — their tech team are pretty responsive in my experience.

@NZ_Marine had this exact issue on my narrowboat last spring. Turned out the AC-in 2 input wasn't configured properly in VEConfigure — it was set to "not available" so VRM just ignored it entirely.

Worth checking:

  • Open VEConfigure and look under AC Input settings
  • Make sure AC-in 2 is set to Generator or Grid (whichever applies)
  • Push the config back to the unit and give VRM 15-20 mins to start logging it

Also double-check your DVCC settings in the Cerbo/GX if you've got one — sometimes that throws things off too.

Victron's own forum has a decent thread on this if you search "AC2 not visible VRM" — saved me hours of head-scratching.

@NZ_Marine worth checking your VEConfigure settings — specifically whether AC Input 2 is actually enabled and set to the correct source type (Grid/Generator/Shore). The Multiplus-II won't report data for an input that's configured as "Not available" even if it's physically wired and working.

On my narrowboat setup I had this exact head-scratcher. The GX device (Cerbo in my case) was happily showing AC-in 1 but AC-in 2 showed dashes in VRM. Sorted it by going into VEConfigure3, Input tab, and switching the source from "Not available" to "Shore power."

Also double-check your VRM dashboard — there's a separate widget configuration needed to display both inputs. It doesn't auto-populate both channels unless you've explicitly added the AC Input 2 tile.

What GX device are you running alongside the Multi?

@NZ_Marine I spent a frustrating afternoon chasing exactly this on my garden office setup last autumn. Everything looked fine on the Multiplus-II physically, but VRM was showing a flat line for shore input 2.

What actually fixed it for me was checking the Assistant configuration in VEConfigure — I had a scheduled charge assistant running that was effectively overriding AC-in 2 recognition entirely. Once I removed and rebuilt that assistant from scratch, the portal started logging both inputs properly within minutes.

Worth also confirming your GX device firmware is current — I was running an older Cerbo build that had a known quirk with dual AC input reporting. Updated via VRM remotely and it settled right down.

The Victron community forum has a specific thread on this if you search "AC2 not visible VRM" — saved my sanity that day.

@NZ_Marine classic Victron "it's working but pretending it isn't" energy right there 😄

Had something similar on the narrowboat — turned out my VRM was happily logging absolutely nothing from shore line 2 because I'd never actually assigned it a role in VEConfigure. The Multiplus knew, I knew, the d
