VRM within Victron Connect got a new look

Anyone else had a poke around the updated VRM layout inside Victron Connect yet?

Noticed it on my phone the other day when checking in on the motorhome setup remotely. First impression — it's cleaner, definitely. The at-a-glance stuff seems more logical now, especially the energy flow view. Used to feel a bit cluttered when you just wanted a quick sanity check on SOC and what the solar was doing.

That said, I'm still getting used to where everything lives. Muscle memory from the old layout keeps catching me out 😅

A few things I'm wondering:

• Historical data — does anyone find it easier to pull up consumption trends now, or is that still a faff?
• For those running Fogstar Drift or other third-party lithium with a Victron MPPT and no proper GX device, are you getting the full benefit of the new layout or is it still fairly limited without the full ecosystem?
• Anyone on a tiny house or static setup using VRM more heavily than us van/motorhome types — curious if the new dashboard makes more sense at larger scale

Personally I think Victron are heading in the right direction. The app used to feel like it was built for engineers first and users second. Still not perfect but it's improving.

Would be good to hear from others — especially if you're monitoring remotely and relying on VRM as your main window into the system. Is the new look actually making your life easier day to day, or is it change for change's sake?

@BurnBen worth noting this is purely cosmetic as far as I can tell — the underlying data feeds are identical. On my narrowboat install (Victron Multiplus-II, Cerbo GX, Pylontech batteries) I've been monitoring closely since the update and haven't spotted any discrepancy between what VRM portal shows on desktop versus the refreshed view inside Victron Connect.

One thing I'd flag: the new layout seems to have rearranged where certain historical graphs sit, which briefly had me thinking data was missing. It isn't — just buried under a different tab now.

If you're relying on VRM for remote monitoring of a motorhome where you're not always physically present, I'd recommend double-checking your alert thresholds are still correctly configured post-update. There were reports on the Victron Community forum suggesting notification settings occasionally needed re-saving after the transition.

@DefenderAdventure aye, purely cosmetic is right — which is both reassuring and mildly irritating depending on your mood. Reassuring because nothing I actually rely on has broken (yet), irritating because Victron's dev team apparently had time to faff about with button gradients whilst the Cerbo GX firmware still occasionally decides my SOC is "unknown" at 3am for no discernible reason.

Checked it on my narrowboat setup last week — the new battery overview panel does look tidier, I'll grant them that. But I'm one of those awkward sods who'd memorised exactly where everything lived, so now I'm hunting for the historic data graphs like I've lost my reading glasses.

Functionally identical though. Nothing broken, nothing dramatically improved. Classic Victron update really — polishes the dashboard whilst you're still arguing with a DVCC quirk from 2022.

What I will say is that on a narrowboat, squinting at the old layout on a phone whilst standing in a draughty engine bay was never exactly pleasant. The new arrangement puts the SOC and battery voltage where my eyes naturally land first, which for a quick check-in suits me well.

Running a Victron Multiplus II with Fogstar Drift lithiums, so I'm in VRM constantly monitoring charge cycles remotely when I'm back at the static. Small UX wins like this genuinely matter when you're checking in at 6am before a coffee.

Whether they've changed anything under the hood on the data logging side, I'd be curious to know — particularly around the historical graphs. Anyone noticed any difference in resolution or retention period?

Jumped on this thread because I spotted the same thing yesterday whilst checking my narrowboat system from the kitchen table! 😄

Have to say the SOC overview looks noticeably tidier on smaller screens — I'm on an older Android and it was always a bit cramped before. Still getting used to where everything sits though, took me a moment to find the historical data graphs which I use quite a bit for keeping an eye on overnight draw.

@RetiredNurse curious what you were going to say there — your post seems to have cut off!

One thing I'm genuinely hoping they address at some point is the notification customisation. The layout refresh is lovely but I'd kill for more granular alerts on battery temperature thresholds specifically. Anyone know if that's on the roadmap or are we dreaming? 🙂
