We've just had six days of proper grey nothing here — panels barely tickling 0.4kWh/day when I'd normally expect 2-3kWh. Static caravan setup, 400W of Renogy panels and a 200Ah Fogstar lithium, so the maths gets uncomfortable fairly quickly when the fridge and router are chewing through it constantly.
Ended up running a small Honda EU22i for a couple of hours each evening to top up via a Victron Blue Smart charger. Did the job, but the petrol cost and the noise aren't exactly ideal long-term. Got me wondering whether I should look at a small wind turbine as a secondary source, or just bite the bullet and double the battery capacity so I've got more buffer before the generator kicks in.
What do others do for the genuinely grim stretches? Anybody running a proper hybrid setup — wind and solar — or is that more hassle than it's worth for a static install? Keen to hear if anyone's found a smarter solution than "run the genny and hope for the best."
