Been running exactly this combo on my static caravan for about 18 months now, so I can actually speak from experience rather than theory.
Short answer: yes, but with caveats.
The Hoymiles HM-600 I've got feeding into a Multiplus II 48/3000 works fine most of the time. The key thing people miss is that the Multiplus needs to be in ESS or MicroGrid assistant mode — the microinverter is looking for a stable AC reference to synchronise against, and the Multiplus provides that. Without it, the Hoymiles just sits there blinking at you unhappily.
Where it gets interesting is during heavy load switching. I've noticed the Hoymiles occasionally drops out briefly if the Multiplus AC output wobbles during, say, a kettle clicking on. It recovers within 30 seconds usually, but it's not invisible.
A few things worth knowing:
- Grid code matters — make sure your Hoymiles is flashed to the correct UK/G98 profile
- The DTU-Pro monitoring unit is worth having, otherwise you're flying blind on what the microinverter is actually doing
- Keep firmware on both devices current — Victron especially pushes relevant fixes quietly
I've seen people on here swear it's impossible and others running it without drama. I suspect a lot comes down to how stable your battery bank is. Mine's Fogstar Drift 48V LiFePO4 and it holds voltage rock solid, which probably helps the Multiplus maintain clean AC output.
