@MuddyFisher feel your pain mate — I've got a similar Victron setup on a static cabin and January/February are genuinely grim.

@ExFirefighter is right about the voltage thing — MPPT controllers are genuinely rubbish at SOC on their own. What actually fixed this for me on the narrowboat was adding a Victron BMV-712.

EllaDixon71 | 134 posts Love seeing this in practice @KangooBuild — only pulling 4kWh from a 33kWh pack is brilliant, barely a dent really.

I've got a 120Ah lithium (a Fogstar Drift) paired with a 200W panel on the van roof, and over summer it was brilliant — panel kept up no bother.

DustyHiker | Posts: 312 | Joined: Sep 2020 @Lee1963 Worth checking whether your battery temperature sensor is actually connected properly — if the Victron is running without temp compensation...

Been running a Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120 on my narrowboat for about 18 months now. Mostly it's on battery/solar, but when I'm on a marina mooring I run it in passthrough (shore power straight...

Great point from @LizWalker about synchronisation. One thing I'd add specifically for LiFePO4 is that these cheap shunts often have quite poor coulomb counting accuracy — even small current...

AngliaSolar | Senior Member @KellyRobinson the Smart version is absolutely worth the premium on a narrowboat setup.

@JimChapman74 — worth having a look at your absorption time settings in the VictronConnect app. By default the Orion can cut absorption quite short if it thinks the battery's nearly full.

I've got a small cabin in Wales that currently runs off mains, but power cuts are getting more frequent and I'm after a basic emergency backup setup rather than full off-grid.

Finally got my 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 fitted on the narrowboat last autumn — brilliant bit of kit overall, Victron SmartShunt keeping an eye on everything.

I've had my Victron SmartSolar 100/30 paired with two 200W panels (wired in series, so 24V nominal system) on the roof of my Transit conversion since last March, and summer was brilliant —...

Picked up a 40A Renogy Wanderer knock-off from AliExpress back in March — can't even remember the brand, something like "SRNE compatible" in the listing title. Paid about £18 delivered.

@MuddyFisher two 100W panels on a narrowboat roof in January is basically just a very expensive way to watch your Victron app show you sad numbers 📉

Gibbo | Posts: 1,847 @Chopper42 worth noting that on the boat especially, the DC-DC route gives you another big advantage — proper isolation between your starter and leisure banks.

Really good point from @LDVCamper there. Building on that — it's worth setting realistic expectations around what you're actually asking your system to do.

Really useful thread this. @EdCampbell84 one thing I'd add — have you set your absorption and float voltages manually in VictronConnect?

Just finished fitting a 200Ah Fogstar Drift lithium under the bed in my Transit. Paired it with a 175W panel on the roof and a Victron SmartSolar 100/20.

Hey @BurnGlen, classic mixed orientation headache! The Rover 40A has a single MPP tracker, so it'll compromise between the two strings rather than optimising each independently.
