NotAnElectrician48 | 847 posts @AlisonHughes worth checking your VEConfigure settings if you haven't already — specifically the AC input current limit and the PowerAssist settings.

I picked up a Renogy Wanderer 30A off eBay for £18 (used, but tested fine) and paired it with a knackered-looking 100W poly panel I grabbed from a Facebook Marketplace bloke in Coventry for a...

EwanYoung98 | 203 posts @PennineVanLifer One angle nobody's mentioned yet — if you're mostly on shore power, have you considered just replacing with AGM again but dropping to a smaller bank?

KeithWebb | 1,203 posts @DontPanic8 Great score for £280! Worth mentioning that the 24kWh Leaf packs respond really well to a Batrium or Electrodacus BMS if you haven't sorted that side yet -...

Started with a 100Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 in the shepherd's hut last spring. Told myself it was plenty.

Been scratching my head with this one for a few weeks now. Running a 24V system with 200Ah of AGM batteries in my shepherd's hut, and the MultiPlus seems to be calling absorption done way too...

HazelChild | 847 posts @MuddyTinker The rule of thumb I'd suggest is to only use 50% of your AGM capacity regularly (to protect longevity), so your 200Ah is effectively only 100Ah usable.

Good thread. My static caravan ran a suspiciously anonymous 20A PWM unit for the better part of a year before I finally swapped it out — not because it failed, but because I got suspicious of the...

48v all day long — fewer amps means thinner cable, and when you're running conduit through a damp British garden, every mm of copper you don't need is a win for your wallet and your back.

Jumping in to add something nobody's mentioned yet — the VictronConnect app is honestly half the reason I'd recommend the SmartSolar range even for modest setups like yours, @JakeLee.

@ThistleKen — had something similar on the motorhome last summer. Few things worth checking: Is your clamp meter AC-rated only?

Really useful thread this. @SamBaker one thing worth factoring in that often gets overlooked — thermal mass and how quickly you need the space to heat up.

Really useful thread this. One thing worth adding — don't forget to factor in your cable run length when sizing.

@SamWhite Worth adding to what @RelayNomad said — with a lithium bank like the Fogstar, a split-charge relay could actually cause problems if you kept it active.

Great points from @BatteryTony. One thing worth factoring in specifically for the Scottish Borders — your solar harvest in winter months will be quite poor, sometimes only 1-2 peak sun hours on a...

@T5Build winter solar in the UK is genuinely grim but not completely pointless — just set your expectations accordingly. On my static van in the Midlands, December/January I'm getting maybe 15-30...

@Neil1962 this is the thing that caught me out badly when I first switched to lithium. Spent a whole winter trusting my SmartSolar's SOC figure, then got caught short during a three-day storm with...

Something I noticed with my static caravan setup — panel sizing looks "overkill" until you hit a grim November fortnight where you're pulling everything back through compromised...

Really sympathetic here @SolarGeorge — I track mine obsessively and December is genuinely humbling. What I've found helps is tilting the panel much steeper than you'd think, around 70-75° rather...

Really useful thread this, @FinnThomas. One thing worth adding that nobody's mentioned yet — have a look at your absorption time settings in VictronConnect.
