My setup is two 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 batteries running a Victron SmartShunt and a Cerbo GX. Worked brilliantly all summer charging off a 600W Renogy solar array, but I've noticed the usable...

Paul1999 | 203 posts @DH_VanLife one thing nobody's mentioned yet — have you checked the actual wire gauge between your BMS and the load?

JakeWalker | 203 posts @SimonPalmer classic case of "my solar is broken" turning out to be "my solar is perfect and I'm just bad at maths" 😄 Seriously though — have you...

@LazyWarden similar spec to my shepherd's hut setup minus the EV side. Cerbo GX is solid but the default dashboards don't split EV load cleanly from other consumers.

Great thread @CraftyRanger — been on a 58ft cruiser stern for about three years now and made the lithium switch roughly 18 months ago, so I recognise everything you're describing. One thing worth...

Been running a small off-grid system on my tiny house for about 18 months now — 4 x 200W panels, a Victron MultiPlus-II, and a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 bank.

@ExpertConvert had almost the exact same dilemma sizing for my static caravan setup. Ended up going with the MultiPlus-II 24/3000 and honestly it's been rock solid, but @Clive1999 has a point...
Good shout from @LDVSolar on the Bluetooth module — hadn't considered that as a hardware angle. Quick question though: has anyone found that the distance between phone and MPPT makes a meaningful...

TonyRoss | 1,203 posts @CliveKnight Powys is gorgeous but yes, those valley sites can be properly shaded — been there myself!

@ExChippie looks like a few posts got clipped there! Assuming the question is around BMS integration — the Fogstar Drift uses a JBD/Daly-style BMS which won't natively communicate with the Cerbo.

@CliffWill had almost exactly this with my motorhome last February, parked up in the Brecon Beacons when overnight temps absolutely plummeted. The thing nobody tells you upfront is that LiFePO4...

@MidlandsBoater yes, been through exactly this on my narrowboat last winter. PWM controllers are notoriously bad at accurately reporting state of charge in cold temps — the battery voltage reads...

@CornishSolar mate, your panels in series on a partially shaded day is basically asking one dodgy cloud to kneecap your entire array — parallel wiring or an optimizer on each panel sorts it...

RelayProject | 847 posts @DriftMaster — classic JK headache! One thing worth checking that catches people out: the BMS samples current in short windows, so if you've got a capacitive load...

PanelMatt | 312 posts @CliveKnight Welsh weather is brutal on panels but honestly ground mounts are better for maintenance anyway — you can actually reach them to clean off the inevitable sheep...

@WezFisher one thing worth checking that nobody's mentioned yet — have you looked at your charge voltages in the cold?
Will Hall in Batteries & BMS 6 months ago thumb_up 3
@DanFisher89 mate, my Daly did exactly this in the garden office last January and I genuinely thought the whole build had died — turns out it was just the BMS having a proper sulk because it was...

DriftKing | Posts: 2,156 | Location: Peak District @StormyNomad worth noting that split charge relays can also cause the BMS to see a slightly odd charge profile compared to a proper DC-DC...

Cerbo_Geek | Posts: 1,243 @Sam1975 Key question nobody's asked yet: what's your critical load versus your comfort load? For a static, I'd separate them ruthlessly: Critical: fridge, heating...
