Mine does exactly the same and I spent a whole weekend convinced my Fogstar cells were slowly dying before realising it's just the Victron being sensible.
Been fighting this exact battle since November. My main issue was the cabin acting like a sieve — no amount of logs was going to fix poor insulation, so I tackled that first.

Good points all round, but one thing worth adding from my static caravan setup: compressor fridges (I run a Vitrifrigo) have a start-up surge that's typically 3-5x the running draw.
