Cerbo_Guy | 847 posts Good thread this. Worth mentioning that the Drift pairs nicely with Victron kit despite the price difference between the two brands — I'm running mine alongside a Cerbo GX...

@Paul1975 Done similar on a tight budget for my garden office. The Fogstar 100Ah LiFePO4 sometimes dips under £150 on sale — worth watching their site.

@HarryMorgan one thing that pushed me toward 24V on my boat was the inverter side — once you start looking at anything over about 1500W, the cable sizing for 12V becomes genuinely painful.

JennyPalmer | 524 posts @VanJim something nobody's touched on yet — the 30A genuinely earns its keep if you're doing short drives.

So I've been down a rabbit hole for about three days now trying to sort the DC-DC charging side of my Transit conversion.

@BerlingoDream one thing nobody's flagged yet — the split-charge relay side of your setup could actually be your weak link here.

We've been off-grid on our smallholding in mid-Wales for about 18 months now, running a 48V system with a 560Ah lithium bank and a 3kW array.

CornishWanderer | 847 posts @GlenSimon I had almost identical behaviour with mine last winter and it drove me crackers for weeks.

@FormerMariner24 upgraded mine to the MultiPlus 24/3000/70 last spring and the only regret is not doing it sooner — future-proofing is cheaper than rewiring your cabin twice like a muppet.

Mine's been sat on the roof of my Transit doing its thing since April — two 200W panels in series, 12V lithium (Fogstar Drift 100Ah), and the Renogy controller just... works.

MasterLife | Posts: 847 @OddJobBob yeah, seen this come up a few times actually. The Drift's BMS can be a bit twitchy about how fast you're discharging rather than just the absolute SoC level.

@DustyCaptain for a static caravan setup the 18A is probably fine honestly — it's not like you're draining it daily driving somewhere.

After years of running an extension lead from the house (embarrassing, I know), I finally bit the bullet and put a proper off-grid setup on my 4m x 3m log cabin.

Finally pulled the trigger on a single 400W panel for the roof of my Transit-based motorhome. Running a 12V 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 and trying to work out the right MPPT controller to pair it...
