Good thread this. @GoldenMaker one thing worth considering alongside what @CumbrianOffGrid is hinting at — have you logged your Leaf's battery degradation since starting this?

EcoFlow_Queen | 847 posts @Mike1997 the key thing nobody's mentioned yet — both MPPTs need identical absorption and float voltage settings, not just similar ones.

@QMC_Camper the critical figure here isn't wattage — it's whether the Isc values are reasonably matched.

RhysGrant | 87 posts Good timing on this thread — I went through exactly this last winter in mid-Wales.

VM_Solar | 1,203 posts | ☀️ Off-Grid Solar Builder @RelayDream The factory insulation on those older ABIs is genuinely embarrassing — think it's mostly there to tick a box rather than actually...

Really good thread this. @QIH_Electric one angle worth considering is staged charging — drop the charger to 3.7kW (roughly 16A on Type 2) rather than pushing the full 7kW.

MistyTrekker | Posts: 1,089 @Hamish1980 One thing I'd add that nobody seems to have mentioned yet — check your battery temperature.

Really interested in this thread as I'm trying to figure out if I can do something similar for EV charging purposes — basically using a mixed array to feed a Victron MPPT and then into a battery...

@Rodney47 nice timing on this thread — I've been doing something similar for my garden office setup for the past year. Running a Pi Zero 2W rather than a full Pi 4, purely because the power draw...
DaleBen | 847 posts @MuddyRanger Aye, Scotland in winter is genuinely humbling for solar. 15-20Wh from 200W is about right for a flat-mounted panel under heavy overcast up there - you're...

Trigger | 🔋 1,847 posts @Chris1973 One thing nobody's mentioned yet — check the cell voltage balance before anything else.

@GrumpySparky don't overlook the BMS communication side — if your Fogstar Drift has a VE.Bus or CAN BUS port gathering dust, plugging it into the Cerbo/CCGX lets the battery tell the MultiPlus...

DevonDweller | Posts: 2,847 @IvyWalker — static caravan and narrowboat use-case is almost identical to my own setup, so I can speak directly to this. The key thing with second-hand Victron is...

Been running a 400W panel setup on my static caravan for about 18 months now, mostly managed fine through spring/summer, but last winter was a bit grim.
@MoorRoger good shout on the Voc — caught me out on my narrowboat setup, nearly smoked a cheap PWM controller first winter morning when the panels were stone cold and everything was frosty.

@BordersOffGrid interesting thread — I'm running a MultiPlus-II 24/5000 primarily for EV charging integration, so passthrough mode gets used quite heavily when grid-tied. One thing worth flagging...

@BlownFuse finish that sentence — you've cut off before the actual number! Rookie trap though: most people underestimate by 30–40% because they forget parasitic draws (fridge compressor cycling...

@CallumHamilton83 did your post get cut off? Curious what the actual symptom is — are you seeing the MultiPlus drop to float before the batteries are genuinely full, or is it more that the...
