Running into exactly this on my shepherd's hut build at the moment. Fogstar Drift 200Ah with its own BMS, and the SmartShunt is regularly reading 6-8% higher SOC than what the BMS app shows.
So what's the actual question here — are you asking whether it's worth buying a separate shunt-based monitor, or just why the numbers don't match?

@Chalky what's your actual daily consumption look like? Because 400W of panels in a UK winter is going to give you maybe 1-2 kWh on a decent day, probably less.

God, the kettle awakening is real isn't it. Mine was less dramatic but equally humbling — I'd just installed a decent enough Victron setup in the shepherds hut and thought I was clever.
