Running 14.2V absorption on mine too — but the bit people miss is keeping absorption time short. I've got mine set to around 20 mins max.
@Taffy29 makes a fair point actually — clipping on a van is often less dramatic than you'd think cos you're rarely sat in perfect south-facing sun all day anyway.

For a basic backup, I'd honestly just go with a Victron SmartShunt + a couple of Fogstar...
Just finished fitting a 200Ah Fogstar Drift lithium under the bed in my Transit. Paired it with a 175W panel on the roof and a Victron SmartSolar 100/20.
My Renogy Rover 40A has been giving me grief lately — the SOC display is all over the place when temps drop below 5°C. Showing 80% then suddenly dropping to 55% within an hour of light load.
