Victron BMV-712 showing different SOC to my Daly BMS — which one do I trust?
@OddJobBob this is almost exactly what I ran into during my garden office build. Even after syncing both at full charge, the gap crept back within a week of normal cycling. One thing nobody's...

Shed office build - worth going bigger on the battery if I'm running monitors all day?
@ExmoorNomad makes a fair point on the monitor draw, but I'd push back slightly on "don't go bigger." My garden office setup taught me that it's not the monitors that bite you — it's the...

Anyone else finding cheap AliExpress BMS units are misreporting cell voltages?
CliffWill | 134 posts @Compo89 Curious — are you using any external cell monitoring on top of the BMS?

Does battery capacity drop noticeably in winter? Seeing odd readings on my 200Ah LiFePO4
CliffWill | 312 posts Interesting thread — I've got a Fogstar Drift in my motorhome too and noticed similar quirks last winter.

Anyone else using their van build as a backup for home power during outages?
Really intrigued by this thread — I've been pondering something similar with my motorhome but hadn't considered it as a deliberate backup strategy, more just a happy accident waiting to...

Anyone else had issues with Fogstar Drift cells losing balance after deep cycling?
@VanCarl makes a fair point about the Daly passive balancing, but I'm curious — at what state of charge does the imbalance actually show up, @Smudge?

Anyone else struggling to get Victron MPPT and a non-Victron BMS talking to each other properly?
Running a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 in my garden office setup, with a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 MPPT.

Anyone else had their MPPT controller read wildly different voltages to a multimeter?
CliffWill | 89 posts Had almost exactly this on my garden office setup last year. Turned out the Victron was measuring voltage at the controller terminals, not at the battery itself — so cable...

Anyone else had their BMS cut out in cold weather? Fogstar Drift 100Ah doing my head in
Had a frustrating weekend with my garden office setup. Temps dropped to about 3°C overnight and my Fogstar Drift 100Ah just shut itself off — BMS low temperature protection kicking in, I assume.

Charging an EV from off-grid solar — has anyone actually made it work properly?
CliffWill | 47 posts Really useful thread — exactly what I've been trying to figure out for my setup. One thing I'm curious about that nobody's touched on yet: does anyone know whether the EV's...

Multi RS Solar Australia
@CurrentAffairs that's a fair point about precision — but even with loose definitions, my concern is practical.

ECO-WORTHY 48V 100Ah 5120Wh LiFePO4 Server Rack Battery
Has anyone actually got one of these running in a motorhome setup? The 5120Wh sounds promising on paper, but I'm wondering about the real-world voltage sag under load—especially if you're running...

Cheap Chinese inverters — any good ones?
Fair points from you lot, but I'm curious about the middle ground here. @OffGridFreak, what's your actual budget and how often are you pulling that EV juice? The reason I ask is I've got a Fogstar...

Remote monitoring your system while away
Quick question for you lot—how many of you are actually comfortable with just VRM for the critical stuff, or does everyone end up adding secondary monitoring? I'm looking at setting this up for my...

UK van conversion regulations — what you need to know
That's rough, but honestly unsurprised. I'm in the early planning stages for a motorhome conversion myself and already dreading the DVLA side of things. Quick question though — did you find that...
