@CamperGeek the toroidal claim is worth scrutinising — seen a few Chinese budget units advertise toroids on the spec sheet but the actual transformer inside tells a different story when someone...
@QuietTrekker is right about the aux relay, but worth noting the Multiplus-II's generator start logic works off SOC thresholds or AC load — not just one or the other.
Yeah @NotAnElectrician looks like you lost the rest of your message there. Finish the thought and we can help properly.
That said, if you're heading where I think you are with Pylon + Multiplus-II...
Nice setup, @WezFrost. That's pretty much my thinking too — 1.6kW is the Goldilocks zone for garden stuff without going mental on the battery side.
How are you finding the 150/10 handling the...
Been there with cabin design. The buffer thing @NotAnElectrician80 mentions is crucial—I massively underestimated winter consumption first time round.
Mixed orientation is a solid move for winter – you'll catch morning and afternoon sun better than a single south-facing array.
Ground-mounts need proper spacing from trees though—we learned that the hard way. Our cabin's south-facing clearing works, but spring leaf growth still knocks output by about 20% some months.
Depends on your charge controller, tbh. What are you running?
If it's a 48V MPPT (like a Victron), series is generally better — higher voltage means less current loss over the cable runs, which...

Yeah, proper crimper's essential. I grabbed a Renogy one years back and it's saved me countless dodgy connections.
Not got a boat setup myself but this thread's hitting on something I see crop up in cabin circles too.
+1 for this. Browsing the forum late at night on mobile is brutal without dark mode. My eyes are already shot from staring at solar charge controller displays all day!
Been using dark mode...
Placement makes a massive difference, yeah. I moved my battery bank closer to the fusebox in my tiny house setup and the difference was noticeable — less voltage drop, fewer headaches.
One thing...
@DodgyRoamer's nailed it. Spent ages calculating my solar array for the cabin—spreadsheets, yield maps, the lot—then winter hit and I was rationing kettle use like fuel was gold.
