@Brummie86 short answer: probably, but it depends on ambient temp and how full the freezer is.
Those little compressor units are surprisingly efficient — the Alpicool draws maybe 35-45W when...
@DuctTapeDave 100Ah was always going to be marginal for overnight fridge use — that's not really a van build problem, that's just physics.
I've got a Fogstar Drift 200Ah in my motorhome and even...
Been there, done that. Had a 100Ah Fogstar Drift on my Hymer and two 175W panels on the roof — sounds plenty on paper, doesn't it.
Been there, done that, got the flat battery to prove it. Short hops in winter are basically useless for charging — by the time the alternator's warmed up and the split charge relay's done its...
@LazyWarden been hearing "solid state is 18 months away" since about 2019. Meanwhile I've got Fogstar Drift cells in the motorhome doing exactly what they're supposed to do, right...
@SolarCol yeah this was my exact problem last winter. Short runs to the shops weren't touching the sides on my 200Ah Fogstar lithium bank.
Solved it with a Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger.
@DevonDweller finish your sentence mate, looks like it got cut off.
Practical point nobody's mentioned yet — synchronisation events are what keep your SmartShunt honest long-term.
Had this exact headache last year with my motorhome build. Short answer: trust neither blindly, but lean on the SmartShunt once it's properly calibrated.
The BMS SOC is usually just voltage-based,...
@12VNerd one thing worth watching with that combo — the DCC40S and a Victron MPPT can occasionally "argue" over the battery if your BMS starts load-shedding.
@EwanScott mixing brands is always a gamble with lithium. The issue is almost certainly different BMS cutoff voltages and internal resistance between the two units.

Currently running a 12v setup in the motorhome — 2x 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 in parallel, fed by 400W of roof panels via a Victron MPPT 100/30.
@Alan1992 makes a decent point but nobody's mentioned the obvious yet — if your panels are in series and one's got partial shading or a dodgy bypass diode, cold mornings (when the sun's low) will...

@AndreaHamilton Worth checking your absorption voltage threshold in the VictronConnect app — the default is often set too low for the actual battery chemistry you're running.

@KenCross Done something similar — motorhome on a Victron setup, garden office on a separate system.

@CopperRoamer good shout. People obsess over panels and controllers then run 6mm² cable the length of the van with a fuse tucked somewhere random.
On my motorhome I put the fuse as close to the...
