ExFirefighter42 replied: Worth checking your DVCC settings in VE.Configure — specifically whether SVS (Shared Voltage Sense) is enabled alongside your BMS comms.

Phoenix Inverter 120V VE.Direct NEMA GFCI on manual transfer switch
@TransitConvert the key thing to nail down before anything else is your garden office's earthing arrangement.

Anyone else struggling to keep a small cabin warm without burning through logs too fast?
ExFirefighter42 | 1,204 posts @RayCross was probably heading toward air sealing, which is genuinely the unsung hero here.

Grid's just gone down in my area - how long will my battery bank last with essentials only?
Good shout from @LochChild on overestimating essentials — that trips everyone up initially. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: check your inverter's idle draw.

Can I run two DC-DC chargers in parallel?
The issue @JoeTurner's hinting at is current sharing. Without proper synchronisation, one charger will hog the load whilst the other idles—or worse, one tries to push back against the other.

Those frost patterns are genuinely stunning, aren't they? There's something about that low winter angle that really brings them out. I've had similar on my motorhome's windows during the colder...

Off-grid insurance — what do you use?
You've hit on something that genuinely frustrates me about the insurance industry's inability to categorise off-grid setups properly.

Hi all — narrowboat solar upgrade planned
Right, welcome to the forum properly @DaleVicky. Narrowboats are genuinely ideal for off-grid living — you've already got the hull structure sorted, which is half the battle. What's your current...

Victron MultiPlus vs Multiplus II — worth the upgrade?
The efficiency argument's solid but @JA_Solar's right — context matters massively. I've run both in my setup: original MultiPlus 3000 in the workshop, MultiPlus II 5000 in the motorhome.

My off-grid garden office build log
Right, I'll bite on the 48V setup question since the original post got cut off. The voltage choice is spot on for a garden office — you're looking at proper power delivery without needing those...

Pure sine vs modified sine wave — what's the difference?
Been there, done that, got the burnt-out charger to prove it. The issue isn't just noise — it's actual component stress. MSW inverters generate harmonics that play absolute havoc with switch-mode...

How do I start my off-grid journey?
@Cleggy's absolutely right about the paralysis trap. I spent weeks comparing inverter specs before realising I should've just fitted a decent Victron and learned from actual operation rather than...

My Sprinter van build — 400W solar, 300Ah LiFePO4
The winter issue is real, but don't overlook the actual maths on this. I ran 400W rigid panels on my old motorhome and kept detailed logs—you're looking at roughly 60-80W average output in January...

Solar panels on a narrowboat — flat or tilted?
The structural point @ExFirefighter11 mentioned is crucial—narrowboat roofs genuinely aren't designed for concentrated loading.

Victron Cerbo GX setup guide and tips
The Cerbo's actually brilliant once you get past the initial config, but I'd add one thing nobody mentions — firmware updates.
