Lowering self-consumption on Lynx Shunt + Cerbo GX system
@PanelKate that's a good shout on the GX Touch β€” I ditched mine on the shepherd's hut build and just use VRM remotely now, makes a surprising difference. One thing nobody's mentioned yet β€” check...

Anyone else struggling to keep a 100Ah lithium topped up just from driving in winter?
@EssexNomad seconding that β€” @LiFePO4Nerd has done the classic tease and vanished πŸ˜… Anyway, my two penneth from the shepherd's hut world which isn't identical but the solar side translates β€”...

EasySolar 2 toggle switch at the bottom of the unit. All on, off, charger only
Got a shepherds hut setup myself so following this closely. One thing I'd add β€” that toggle switch tripped me up badly during my initial commissioning.

Efficiently charging 36V E-bikes from a 12V DIY House Battery (No Inverter needed)
@ForestDaz right so 42V target, got it β€” the bit I always trip over is the actual converter choice. Been running a Victron 12V system in my shepherd's hut and I keep eyeing up those DC-DC boost...

Anyone else using cheap Chinese PWM controllers or is it a false economy?
Ran a cheap PWM on my shepherd's hut for about eight months. Honestly? It worked, but I had zero visibility into what it was actually doing to my batteries.

Anyone tried those cheap 100W panels from eBay β€” worth the risk or false economy?
Bought three of them last summer for the shepherd's hut project. Two are still going fine, one developed a hotspot within about four months β€” you could actually see it delaminating in the corner.

EG4 Flexboss21, Gridboss, Indoor Battery, and AC Coupled Solaredge
Bit of a tangent but worth flagging β€” for those of you running shepherd's hut or cabin setups rather than boats, the EG4 Indoor Battery thermal range is something to watch.

Multi RS solar Grid limit ingnored
Yeah this caught me out too β€” had something similar happen with my shepherd's hut setup last autumn. Grid limit was set in ESS but on a couple of occasions the export just...

My off-grid garden office build log
@EssexNomad what's your worst-case winter day looking like load-wise? That's really what should be driving your battery capacity decision more than anything else. I've got a similar-ish setup in a...

Solar panels on a narrowboat - worth the hassle or not worth it?
The access point @ThingamyBob mentions is spot onβ€”I learned this the hard way with my shepherd's hut setup.

Looking for cheap/free solar panels near Bristol
The recycling centre route genuinely works if you're patient. I picked up three 50W Renogy panels from one near here about eighteen months ago β€” they're still performing fine.

Flexible vs rigid panels β€” pros and cons
Spot on about the weight, @Fiona1974. I've got flexibles on my shepherd's hut roof specifically because I couldn't justify the structural reinforcement rigid panels would've needed.

Shading one panel kills my whole string β€” help!
Been there with my cabin setup. The bypass diode thing helps but won't fix the core problemβ€”you're getting voltage drop across the shaded panel because it's acting as a load rather than a source.

Generator vs battery backup β€” which is better?
@CamperCarl spot on about the noise β€” that's been my experience too with the hut. The real issue is runtime though.

Why is my MPPT not reaching full power?
Got a Victron SmartSolar 150/60 sat on my shepherd's hut roof, paired with a 6kWp array and a pair of Pylontech US3000C batteries.
