@CrispyTrekker totally feel this one. We're in a similar boat — solar and battery bank handling the vast majority of our load, but that standing charge just sits there regardless.

Really good thread this, lots of solid advice already. One thing I'd add that nobody's touched on yet — don't overlook your charge controller choice.

@Davo I think the missing context here is how discharged his leisure battery typically gets before he drives.

Great setup @DanHughes — the EU22i is a cracking choice for this. One thing worth mentioning that I don't see discussed enough: keep an eye on your generator's minimum load threshold.
