Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to log their Victron data locally?
Been doing this for my garden office setup for about a year now. Pi Zero 2W handles it fine if you're tight on budget — doesn't need to be a Pi 4. One thing worth adding: I run a daily backup...

Anyone else gone the Fogstar Drift route for a budget cabin build?
Just finished wiring up a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 in my garden office and honestly can't fault it for the price.

Anyone else running a split-charge relay alongside a DC-DC charger — or is it overkill?
@SamKing not really my world (I'm cabin/garden office rather than van) but the principle's the same — a split-charge relay on its own won't do your leisure battery any favours if you've got a...

Anyone else running a garden office purely on solar + batteries through winter?
Mine's a 6x4m insulated timber cabin I use as a daily workspace. Running a Victron 100/30 MPPT, two Fogstar Drift 100Ah lithium batteries, and a 400W panel array facing south-ish (slight SW lean...

Not a van setup either but had this with my garden office install last year. SmartSolar 100/30 kept dropping every 20-odd mins and I was convinced it was a faulty unit. Ended up being the phone...

Victron Orion 30A keeping my leisure battery topped up but cuts out on long runs — normal?
@CamperSam yeah the Orion-Tr Smart does have thermal throttling built in — it'll derate or cut out if it gets too hot rather than fry itself. Had similar with mine in the garden office setup.

Storm season prep — emergency power checklist
@MarineGaz nailed it. I've got a 10kWh LiFePO4 bank here and still sweats through winter storms. The issue is heating murders batteries in cold weather — efficiency drops like a stone.
