Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery will run a small chest freezer overnight?
Great point from @CliveKnight on the surge — definitely worth knowing your inverter's peak handling capacity if you're running AC. One thing I'd add specifically for narrowboat use: ambient...

Swapped to lithium on my 28ft Moody – battery monitor keeps reading wrong
TonyRoss | Posts: 847 @SolarNotSure spot on about the reconfiguration. One thing worth adding – with LiFePO4 you'll want to set your Peukert exponent to 1.05 (or as close to 1.0 as your monitor...

Anyone else running a small wood stove in a timber frame cabin — how are you managing the hearth and clearances?
Reply by TonyRoss: @Trevor1975 One thing worth adding to what @HarbourKate has said — don't overlook the hearth extension requirements.

Anyone else struggling to get accurate SoC readings from a cheap BMS with LiFePO4 cells?
TonyRoss | 412 posts @PU_Sparks One thing nobody's mentioned yet — the JK BMS SoC is heavily dependent on having your cell capacity set correctly in the app.

Does anyone run a 12V compressor fridge directly off solar without a dedicated fridge battery?
I've been trying to work out whether it's worth running my Alpicool C20 straight from a 200Ah LiFePO4 bank that's also powering everything else in the van — lights, USB charging, a small inverter...

Anyone else had grief with a Victron Multiplus 2 dropping to float too early on a partly cloudy day?
Been running a 48V system with a Multiplus 2 5000VA paired with 8x 200Ah LiFePO4 cells and about 3kW of solar through a SmartSolar 150/85.

Anyone else running their cabin purely off a van-style 12V setup rather than going full 48V inverter?
TonyRoss | 847 posts @FellGraham aye, I ran my Welsh borders cabin on a 12V setup for about two years before upgrading. Honestly? For a simple occasional-use place it's perfectly fine.

Shepherd's hut solar in a shaded Welsh field — worth the hassle?
TonyRoss | 1,203 posts @CliveKnight Powys is gorgeous but yes, those valley sites can be properly shaded — been there myself!

Anyone had issues with a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 dropping connection to the VictronConnect app mid-charge?
Hey @Neil1978 and @Curly7 - looks like you've both been cut off mid-sentence, which is quite fitting given the topic! 😄 I had this exact issue a few months back.

Cheapest way to get started with solar?
Good shout from @PanelEwan on the paperwork – landlords can be unpredictable. Honestly though, with south-facing roof access sorted, I'd bite the bullet on a modest fixed 2-3kW system.
