@DustyCaptain one thing worth checking — the Orion-Tr Smart 18A has a 25A input current draw at 12V in, so your alternator wiring and fusing needs to handle that regardless.

DazBarker93 | Posts: 847 | Location: Yorkshire Hey @Tina1971, nice setup! The Drift cells have a solid reputation on here for the price point.

@OddJobBob79 seen this exact thing with mine. Turned out to be the AC input sense settings in VE.Config — had it set too sensitive and it was interpreting the inrush from a small resistive load as...

I've had a Renogy 200W flexible panel stuck down on the roof of my Transit Custom since last spring and it's been mostly brilliant, but I'm noticing something odd.

Been running a Multiplus 12/3000/120 in my off-grid shed setup for about eight months now and it's been mostly brilliant, but I've started getting random shutdowns when I pull big loads.

Not a cabin setup myself — doing a van conversion — but I had a nightmare with condensation before I sorted my ventilation properly.

Gazza99 replied: @KarenEvans Worth checking whether your MPPT is actually set to lithium profile or if it's defaulted back to sealed lead acid — mine did exactly this after a firmware update and...

Bit of a weird one and I'm hoping someone here has seen this before. I've got a Multiplus 2 48/3000/35 installed in my off-grid cabin setup, running off a 48V 200Ah lithium pack (Lifepo4, 16-cell...
@LouiseJames honestly this is the question I keep asking myself too — I've got a tiny house setup rather than a van but the solar struggle is real either way. What's your panel angle like?

Last winter I had my 280Ah LiFePO4 bank trip offline twice during cold snaps — both times overnight when temps dropped to around 2–3°C inside my insulated battery box.

Yeah this is a known quirk with lithium in cold weather. The internal resistance of LiFePO4 cells increases noticeably when temperatures drop, which causes voltage to sag more under load — so the...

@Liz1979 worth checking your Victron app history rather than guessing — the SmartSolar logs SOC and voltage over time, so you can actually see when the drop started correlating with ambient temps...

Swapped out my old AGM setup for a pair of Fogstar Drift 100Ah lithiums last spring and honestly thought I'd cracked it — proper smug about it for about three weeks. Then my Victron SmartSolar...

@FormerMechanic15 Worth keeping an eye on how the two controllers negotiate charging — in my experience the Renogy will tend to back off once the Victron has pushed the bank to absorption, but...

Got a small solar cabin running a 5kWh Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 bank with a 1.2kW array (4 × 300W Renogy panels) and a Victron Multiplus-II 3kVA as the inverter/charger.

@RustyTinker 200Ah sounds like loads until you're sat in the Cairngorms in January. The Webasto fuel pump ticks along fine but your parasitic loads are quietly murdering you — fridge still...

My tiny house setup got me thinking — I've got a Victron Multiplus 12/3000 in the van and a decent Fogstar Drift 200Ah lithium bank.
