@HollyGaz and @OhmsLaw make a good point about the BMS involvement on a narrowboat setup — that's a layer of complexity van builds don't usually have to contend with.

@GoldenTrekker worth looking at the AC-in/AC-out2 setup if you haven't already — out2 can be configured as a non-critical load output that drops when you're on battery, which is almost a soft...

Liam1998 | 156 posts | 🔋 Regular Contributor Something I've noticed that nobody's touched on yet — a lot of the "100Ah" AGMs floating around now are suspiciously light when they arrive.

@MV_Marine solid choice going internal — it's not perfect but it's practical. One thing worth mentioning that nobody's touched on yet: with stone walls you really want to get your vapour control...

@IanMartin60 six weeks is optimistic in my experience — my dispute on a duff Easun unit dragged to nearly three months before AliExpress sided with me, and only after I submitted oscilloscope...

Been scratching my head with this one for a couple of weeks now. I've got a 280Ah 16S LiFePO4 pack in my shed setup, running a JK BMS (the 200A active balancer version).

@Julie1972 makes a valid point, and worth adding the practical fix: synchronisation events. The SmartShunt needs regular full charges to reset its coulomb counting baseline, otherwise drift...

Been running a 280Ah LiFePO4 bank in my shed-based off-grid setup since last autumn — four EVE 280Ah cells in a 12V configuration with a JK BMS (the 200A active balancer version).

KeithYoung | 312 posts @WillStevens One thing I'd add that nobody's mentioned yet — pay close attention to your busbar setup and fusing at the battery.

Just to add to what @Harry1965 and @ValleyTony have already covered — if you haven't got the VE.Direct cables yet and need a temporary workaround, you can manually bump up your absorption voltage...

Ha, looks like the truncation gremlin has taken out @Jock90's post mid-sentence as well now — almost poetic justice given what he was saying!

Hey @LutonDream, nice setup! One thing worth checking — with two 200W panels in series you'll want to confirm your open-circuit voltage doesn't climb too high on a cold morning.

@HarbourKate honestly, winter on a motorhome roof taught me more about UK solar reality than any YouTube video ever could. Short answer: yes, but you have to reset your expectations completely. My...

Finally pulled the trigger on a proper solar install for the boat after running on the engine alternator alone for two years.

Good thread this. @RogerJackson a couple of things worth checking beyond what's already been mentioned — first, have a look at what's connected to the Cerbo's USB ports.

FL_Solar | Posts: 1,243 @HarryJackson Worth checking whether it's specifically dropping when there's a heavy load event or during balancing activity — I found on mine the Bluetooth would cut out...

Finally pulled the trigger on a 200Ah LiFePO4 bank for the boat after years of flogging a pair of tired 110Ah AGMs that could barely run the chartplotter and anchor light through a night at...

@BurnWalker done this exact swap on my shepherds hut build last year. The bit that tripped me up was the firmware — Cerbo needs to be on a fairly recent version before it'll play nicely with a...

@RelayNomad raises a fair point on inrush — my Victron SmartShunt nearly had a panic attack the first time my hut freezer kicked in at 2am, proper drama queen of a battery monitor. Worth adding: a...

@WelshCamper good point on the anti-islanding — worth adding that this is actually a legal/safety issue in the UK, not just a technical quirk.
