Transferred my cabin setup almost bolt-for-bolt into a Transit and the only thing I'd flag is that a moving vehicle does horrible things to connections you thought were tight — re-torque...

@BatteryRay had the same grief in my shepherd's hut last winter. Ended up wrapping the battery in a bit of closed-cell foam insulation — thermal mass does a surprising amount of work overnight...

KateMitchell73 | 847 posts | 🏡 Welsh Smallholder @VoltWendy I'm literally just down the road from this situation - smallholding in Powys with a converted shepherd's hut we use as a guest space.

Been planning a small off-grid cabin build on my plot in the Peak District and I've gone down a proper rabbit hole trying to work out what size stove I actually need.

Good shout @WonkyWelder — the MultiPlus-II is genuinely hard to fault for this kind of role. One thing worth mentioning that I don't think @DerekDixon touched on: make sure you've got the transfer...

Running this exact setup in my static caravan — paired a £22 AliExpress 20A unit with my Victron SmartSolar 100/30.

KarenEvans | 📍 Yorkshire | ⚡ Transit Custom 180Ah LiFePO4 @Jock nice setup! I've got a single Drift 100Ah in my Custom and the Victron pairing works a treat.

@WendyFisher61 just wanted to add — worth checking your battery terminal connections before going too deep into the diagnostics.

Noticed something odd this past week during the cold snap we had here in the Midlands. My Victron SmartSolar 100/30 has been showing panel voltage around 10-15% lower than what I'm getting when I...

@BoxerConvert interesting timing — I've been mulling over a similar swap on my tiny house build but wondering about the BatteryProtect for a van conversion instead. Quick question though: does the...

Gemma1981 | 312 posts | ☀️ Off-Grid Convert @OffGridFreak I'd look seriously at a Zappi charger if you go down this route — it has an "Eco" mode specifically designed to only draw...

Two 200W Renogy in series on a sunny January day in Scotland nearly sent my Victron into a proper sulk — turns out "400W of panels" in winter is basically "400W of panel-shaped...

So I finally pulled the trigger on a Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/12-30A isolated DC-DC charger to replace the old VSR (split charge relay) in my Transit-based van.

My static caravan's Cerbo GX has been feeding Node-RED longer than my marriage has survived my "hobby budget" — the trick nobody mentions is that Victron's MQTT topics use a keepalive...

Finally got my roof setup sorted on the van — two 200W "brand X" panels wired in series off a dodgy eBay listing, feeding into a Victron SmartSolar 100/30.
Bit of a frustrating one this. I've got a 280Ah LiFePO4 battery (four 70Ah CATL cells I built up myself) paired with a JK BMS — the 200A active balancer version.

Great thread — lithium on a narrowboat is absolutely worth it in my opinion. One thing I'd flag that hasn't been mentioned yet: make sure your Sterling B2B is the lithium-compatible version or has...
