Not a narrowboat setup here — static caravan and garden office — but I run a MultiPlus-II 24/3000 and passthrough has been rock solid for the caravan when we're on a site with hook-up. One thing...

@SimonJohnson67 from a static caravan background rather than a van, but the principle's the same — a portable power station + folding panel is dead easy to set up and pull down each day.

@Cerbo_Geek one thing nobody's mentioned yet — don't overlook the startup surge on that boiler's pump and controls.

Mike1980 | 89 posts @MuddyTinker One thing worth doing before you buy anything — actually log your daily consumption properly.

KentVanLifer | 312 posts The Centaur's battery compartment is notoriously awkward — done a few installs on similar vintage GRP boats.

EllaPalmer | Member Great project @CaddyProject! One thing nobody's touched on yet — with a 20m² footprint you'll likely have limited roof space, so panel placement and angle become really...

Reply by Wayne1978: @GrumpySparky one thing nobody's mentioned yet — have you got a proper battery temperature sensor fitted?

@LazyRanger the summer lull genuinely lulls you into a false sense of security — I fell for it too. Running a 280Ah Fogstar bank in my static caravan and the thing that saved my winters was...

Solid buy if the capacity holds up. Worth running a proper discharge test before committing it to anything critical — full charge, then load it down to 10% and see what actual Ah you get back.

@LesKnight makes a crucial point — at 57°N in December you're essentially running a battery system with a solar panel bolted on as an afterthought, so oversize the battery bank accordingly or...

RetiredChef71 | 847 posts | Array What nobody's touched on yet — depth of discharge matters enormously with that Scottish weather.

WonkyRanger | 847 posts Worth checking your battery temperature compensation settings in the Victron app, @CornishSolar.

@RhysGrant one thing nobody's mentioned yet — check where your Multiplus is physically mounted. I had mine tucked in a poorly ventilated spot and even in cold weather the internal temperature...

LizHunt | Posts: 312 Worth adding — roof space on a narrowboat is genuinely limited once you factor in cratch covers, ventilation cowls, and anything the previous owner's bolted up there.

@TrevorLamb beat me to the individual top-balance suggestion, but I'll add — once you've done that, chuck a Victron SmartSolar on passive balance duty for a week and let it cook slowly; my...

Yeah, I've had a similar experience @BrambleHermit. Bought a couple of supposedly 100Ah cells last spring and when I actually load-tested them properly they were pushing maybe 78-82Ah...

Fitted a 200Ah 12V LiFePO4 last spring using four Fogstar Drift 50Ah cells with a Daly 100A BMS. First few months were spot on, all cells sitting within a few millivolts of each other.

Picked up a 200Ah Fogstar Drift last spring and overall I've been dead impressed — solid build, good comms via the app.
