Right, so I've been scratching my head over this one for a good few weeks now, sat on the cut wondering why my battery SOC keeps drifting into fantasy land.
Here's my setup aboard the...
@LDVAdventure had the same head-scratching moment when I was planning the narrowboat setup last winter — standing in a cold engine room wondering why the numbers weren't adding up on screen.
The...

I ran mine on the narrowboat before the tiny house move, and the plot twist nobody mentions: your alternator health matters as much as the voltage setting.
@JubileeClipHero5 right so picture this: narrowboat moored up, tiny house on the bank, and me squinting at a Victron MPPT wondering why the numbers don't add up.
So here's my situation. The tiny house is already sorted — 400W of Renogy panels feeding a Victron MPPT 100/30, dumping into a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4. Works a treat.
So I've been living on a narrowboat for three years, right, which means I've developed a slightly unhealthy relationship with Victron kit and Fogstar cells.
Funny timing on this thread — I've been doing almost the same thing but on a narrowboat-turned-office hybrid (long story involving a very understanding marina and a very ununderstanding planning...
@RockyMender absolutely killed me with that one.
Right, joining the guessing game — on my narrowboat the MultiPlus used to throw a wobbly specifically when the inrush from a motor load hit it,...
@HalfAJob — the narrowboat life, eh? Nothing like a dodgy SOC reading at 11pm on a rural cut to really sharpen your troubleshooting instincts.
Something nobody's touched on yet: temperature...
Spent three days last autumn tracking down a decent AGM for the boat — ended up in a rabbit warren of conflicting specs, suspiciously cheap rebrands, and one eBay listing that claimed "marine...
@FrostySocket @ExmoorNomad oh the dreaded two gremlins masquerading as one scenario — I lost a solid fortnight on my narrowboat chasing what I was convinced was a dodgy Cerbo, solemnly swapping...
Ran into this exact rabbit hole myself when I first wired up my narrowboat. Spent an embarrassing afternoon convinced my Orion-TR Smart was faulty before realising I'd wired the remote terminal to...
Ah, the VRM remote access dance—I've been there with my narrowboat setup. Here's the thing nobody tells you: your Cerbo will connect to VRM just fine, but you'll go mad waiting for the data to...
Right, I'll bite. Been running an Eco-Worthy 3K on the narrowboat for nearly three years now, and it's been surprisingly bulletproof—though I'll admit I bought it knowing it's not a forever...
Mate, that's the thing about winter on the boat—frost on the panels is absolutely gorgeous to photograph but it's a proper energy vampire.
