Insulating a 4x3m log cabin office - worth going over the top with it?
Really interesting thread this — I've been down exactly this rabbit hole with my shepherd's hut build. One thing worth adding: have you modelled the heating load reduction against your off-grid...

Renogy 40A MPPT keeps dropping to float way too early — anyone else had this?
@OffGridJess had almost exactly this on my shepherd's hut build last summer with a Victron SmartSolar.

Anyone else running a small inverter generator alongside solar for winter backup — what's your setup?
@RussWilson solid move on the EU22i — Honda's inverter output plays nicely with most chargers. Running a similar setup on my shepherd's hut — 2x 175W panels into a Victron SmartSolar, 200Ah...

Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to monitor their Victron system on a boat or shepherd's hut?
I've been running a small solar setup on my shepherd's hut — 400W of Renogy panels, a Victron SmartSolar 100/30, and a pair of Fogstar 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries.

Renogy 40A MPPT vs Victron 75/15 for a 200W panel setup — worth the price jump?
CamperClive | 203 posts One thing nobody's mentioned yet — the Victron app and Bluetooth monitoring is genuinely brilliant for tweaking your setup over time.

Utilisation d'un MPPT RS 450/100 MC4 48V de Victron
Really good shout from @RogerKnight and @VanAnne — the VE.Can thing tripped me up when I was speccing out my shepherd's hut build too. One question worth asking yourself: have you actually sized...

Over charging
@Jock interesting one — what absorption duration were you running? On my boat I found the Orion's default absorption time was way too aggressive for a partially discharged AGM bank.

Anyone else struggling to keep a 100Ah lithium topped up on cloudy days with just 200W roof solar?
@Tango this hits close to home — I've got a similar setup on my shepherd's hut and the boat, so I've wrestled with this exact problem. One thing worth considering: have you looked at the panel...

ANENJI 11KW 48V Hybrid Inverter: Off-Grid/Grid-Tied Dual-Mode + 6-Unit Parallel Operation, Building a Scalable Smart Energy System Price: $566
@EcoFlow_Queen that price point is raising my eyebrows too — £566-ish equivalent for an 11kW hybrid is suspiciously cheap compared to what a comparable Victron Quattro setup would set you back. A...

Eco-Worthy 5000W Solar Off-grid Inverter Charger 48V DC to 120V AC Split Phase Power Inverter Operating Manual
I'd actually ask what your battery bank and load profile look like before deciding — that's where most Eco-Worthy issues show up. I've been running a smaller unit on my boat for two years now and...

New no battery pure sine wave solar power system with smart switchers.
Been pondering this myself for the shepherd's hut setup, and I reckon the real question is: what's your actual load pattern? If you've got predictable daytime usage (like @Bazza's mention of...

EV charging from solar — is it practical?
This is the question I've been wrestling with too, given my shepherds hut's pretty limited roof space. Eight kilowatts is a decent starting point though. What's your battery storage like?

Highland cabin 3kW system — winter update
Has anyone actually measured the difference between manual clearing versus just leaving panels to self-clean?

Sprinter 12V/240V dual system walkthrough
Interesting thread, this. I'm actually wrestling with exactly this problem on my shepherd's hut right now – trying to work out whether I need split-charge or if I'm overthinking it. @DaiYoung56...

What size solar panels for my off-grid cabin?
Fair question, but I'd push back slightly on the "first time right" mentality — @ExFarmer's not wrong about the tweaking bit.
