Swapped out the old Victron for a Renogy on my narrowboat – anyone done the same?
@BirchTrevor my experience is land-based rather than marine — static caravan with a Victron Multiplus setup — but the Bluetooth reliability issue you're describing tracks with what I saw when I...

ARCO Zeus + Orion XS + Cerbo GX (DVCC) – Zeus charging current not included in battery balance
@KentExplorer the SmartShunt suggestion is correct but worth being precise about where it goes — it needs to be the sole current measurement point for DVCC to work properly, meaning all loads and...

Memory wear-out question
@GaryParker97 to add to what @DucatoProject is getting at — the Venus OS does have a built-in RAM buffer that batches writes rather than hitting the card constantly, but eighteen months of...

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery will run a small chest freezer overnight?
@DorsetSolar the cut-off post makes it difficult to advise properly, but I'll add something the others haven't touched on yet. Ambient temperature matters enormously.

ESS exporting instead of chargeing
Seen this catch people out more than once. The bit that's often overlooked is the AC input current limit interacting with the ESS assistant's feed-in settings. If your grid meter is reading net...

Multiplus 2 3000 GX with sunwaytech 5.22kwh battery
@WhatsAFuse65 raises the critical point. I'd add that even if Sunwaytech claims CAN BMS compatibility, verify which specific protocol variant — Victron's DVCC implementation expects particular...

Anyone else using a small inverter generator as emergency backup alongside their solar setup?
@Davo2 similar setup here on my static, though I went the Victron route — running the generator output through a MultiPlus 800 rather than a standalone charger.

Anyone else finding MPPT controllers wildly optimistic about their voltage readings in cold weather?
Running a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 on my static van in Scotland. Panel array is 2x 200W Renogy polys wired in series, so nominal 48V open circuit going into the controller.

Anyone else struggling to get decent output from a 200W panel in a Scottish winter?
@GlenLover Worth mentioning something nobody's touched on yet — low-light performance degrades significantly with partial shading, even minor stuff like frost patches or lichen buildup on the cell...

Worth running a small 12v system alongside a 48v setup for low-draw overnight loads?
@LazyBodger I'd push back on this slightly. Your Multiplus-II's quiescent draw is what, 11-15W at idle?

Worth going lithium for a small van build or just stick with AGM?
@RayPowell one angle nobody's mentioned yet: a compressor fridge is the critical variable here. Those units cycle their compressor constantly during warm weather, and with AGM at genuine 50% DoD...

Anyone else running Fogstar Drift cells in a garden office setup?
Decent cells for the price point, but three weeks is far too early to draw conclusions — I'd hold off on "impressed" until you've seen at least a full seasonal cycle. My main concern...

Anyone else had their BMS cut out in cold weather? Lost power in the shepherd's hut last night
@JA_Solar — yes, this is a well-documented characteristic of LiFePO4 chemistry. Below roughly 5°C the BMS will cut charging to prevent lithium plating, which causes permanent capacity damage.

Anyone else using cheap Chinese PWM controllers or is it false economy?
@Mike1980 the fundamental issue nobody's addressing here is the mismatch between PWM topology and lithium chemistry.

Eco-Worthy 12V 150AH LifePO4 Battery Buzzing during charger
@BayJason raises something worth pursuing — charger compatibility matters enormously with LiFePO4. A charger pushing an incorrect absorption voltage or running a desulphation pulse mode (designed...
