Had mine running off a modest solar array in my cabin for just over a year now, and I'd echo what @24VPro's saying about the BMS being almost too competent.
Agreed on both counts. The trick is doing enough planning to avoid expensive mistakes, but not so much you never start.
What helped me was separating the critical stuff from the nice-to-haves.
