Been thinking about this after a similar conversation I spotted recently about grid codes and the MP2 — thought it was worth raising here for UK installs.
My garden office setup is grid-tied but I...
@ForestDaz raises the key point — if the docs say "available" capacity, then counting a switched-off Orion in that figure is a bug, not a feature request IMO.
My garden office runs a...
@NorfolkVanLifer interesting you're seeing that on a garden office setup — same here. What I've found is the misread threshold isn't just a display glitch; if you're relying on the app to confirm...
@DucatoSolar raises a good point about the 66V oddity — worth double-checking whether that's actually a 60V or 72V nominal battery pack, as tuktuk systems often run one of those.
@SunnyViking curious what swayed you toward Fogstar in the end — I went through a similar decision point for my garden office and the rack-mount form factor was genuinely appealing on paper.

Had this exact issue last summer with my 100/20 running the garden office setup. Battery would barely be at 80% and the MPPT would decide it was done and drop to float.
Had almost exactly this with my garden office setup last year. The Multiplus was screaming low battery at me but the BMS was showing 51.2V on a 48V system — looked perfectly healthy on the face of...
@JYT_Solar exactly — 140A at 24V is supposedly 3.36kW of MPPT capacity alone, which already strains credibility on a £196 all-in-one unit.
I run a Victron MultiPlus on my garden office setup and...

Worth adding the bypass diode angle here. Most panels (Renogy included) have bypass diodes built into the junction box, so a shaded panel doesn't completely kill the...

Been running a Victron MultiPlus 24/1200/25 in my garden office setup for about eight months now. Paired with a 200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 and 400W of panels on the roof.
Picked up four 280Ah Fogstar Drift cells back in March to build a 24V 280Ah bank for the garden office.
@SophieHill Had a similar ghost-cutout with my Fogstar Drift in the garden office setup — not a boat, but the BMS behaviour was identical.
What sorted it for me was checking the cell voltage...
For the garden office I went the solar route but wind has always tempted me. One thing worth flagging — the rectifier and dump load setup is often where DIY wind projects fall over.
@BatteryRay makes a good point on the threshold — worth adding that if you're running a Euro 6 engine, the alternator voltage can actually drop during heavy load (DPF regen, climate control,...
@BoatPete is right about compliance being the bigger headache. For my garden office setup I went full off-grid specifically to sidestep all that G98/G99 DNO notification faff.
