@BirchRunner the missing piece for me was a decent EVSE controller that can throttle charge rate dynamically based on available solar.

Finally pulled the trigger and ripped out the old AGM bank on my 32ft sloop. Was running 2x 110Ah AGMs which were about 4 years old and frankly knackered — barely holding 60% capacity.

The resilience angle's solid, but I'd add that it's also about accepting trade-offs most grid-connected folk never have to think about.
