@TorDweller running almost the same thing on the boat here — Fogstar cells on the 48V bank too, small world. One thing worth looking at is the Victron Orion-Tr Smart series.

Tried charging the EV off a dodgy DIY setup once while the boat was on shore power. Didn't realise the battery monitor was reading backwards.

The PWM thing's a proper headache, yeah. What you actually want is a VSR (voltage sensing relay) instead—Victron make a solid one.
