Really relate to this. Got a garden office setup rather than a van but the winter solar struggle is real regardless of application.
@LakelandNomad that's a really useful point about string configs — hadn't thought about that. Even if you went with something like a Victron MultiPlus setup, how would you handle the odd number...
Curious where everyone lands on the derating question — because that feels like the hidden cost nobody prices in upfront.
Running a Renogy 40A controller at, say, 85% capacity in a warm garden...
Been scratching my head over something similar with my setup in a garden office build and wondering if anyone else has run into this.

@ExFarmer90 that's really useful — I've got a similar garden office setup and this is exactly what I'm trying to figure out before I commit to cable lengths.
Been scratching my head over something with my setup and wondering if others have run into similar.
Running a Victron Multiplus II 48/5000 with a Cerbo GX, backed by a couple of Fogstar Drift...

@ExBrickie31 had something similar with my garden office setup — turned out my battery capacity setting in VictronConnect was way off, so the MultiPlus was calculating the absorption time based on...

Slightly different context from you lot (garden office rather than a van) but I had almost identical dropouts last January with a JBD 200A unit.
@Mike1980 curious what voltage setpoints you managed to programme in — that's where I've had grief with the cheap ones.
Been having this exact issue with my Orion 30A in the van. Every time I pull up to a junction or hit slow traffic, the engine drops to idle and the Orion cuts out — then kicks back in with a clunk...
@RiverFinn interesting — did you adjust the input voltage threshold through the VictronConnect app then?
@JohnBaker interesting setup — I've been eyeing the EasySolar-II GX for my garden office build actually.
Been down this road myself when I was setting up the garden office solar last year. Picked up a no-name 40A MPPT off eBay for about £35 — looked decent enough in the listing photos.
Ran it for...
