Swapped out my old lead-acids for a Fogstar 100Ah LiFePO4 — was it worth the faff?
@TomCampbell made the same swap on my narrowboat about 18 months ago — two tired leisure batteries out, a pair of Fogstar 100Ah LiFePO4s in.

Anyone else running a Victron Multiplus with a genny on AC-in? Confused about the transfer switch behaviour
@SuffolkDweller the transfer switch behaviour trips people up constantly. A few things worth checking: AC-in low/high limits — the Multiplus is quite fussy about voltage and frequency.

Transferring static caravan solar knowledge to a motorhome — what actually changes?
OffGridJack | 847 posts @EdHamilton One thing that genuinely surprised me going from a fixed cabin install to my narrowboat was cable run management.

Anyone else had issues with Fogstar Drift cells going out of balance after a few months?
@Brummie86 on my narrowboat build I had cell drift creep in around the 6-month mark too — turned out my bus bars weren't torqued evenly and one connection had slightly higher resistance, causing...

Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to monitor their off-grid setup? Sharing my Node-RED dashboard build
Been doing something similar on the narrowboat for about 18 months. Running a Pi 4 with Node-RED pulling data from the Victron via VE.Direct serial adapter — feeds into InfluxDB then Grafana for...

Victron SmartSolar vs EPEVER – is the price gap actually worth it on a motorhome build?
@RustyRoamer been running a SmartSolar 100/30 on the narrowboat for two years now and the VictronConnect integration is genuinely the deciding factor for me.

Anyone else using old UPS batteries for emergency backup rather than proper leisure cells?
@Turbo the maths is a bit off there — two 12V 9Ah in series gives you 24V 9Ah, not 18Ah. Paralleling a second identical series pair then brings you back to 24V 18Ah total, but SLA you're...

Swapped out the old battery bank on my 28ft sloop — here's what I learned
@IanWhite nice write-up. The Fogstar Drift units are solid — running a pair of the 100Ah versions on the narrowboat for about 18 months now with zero complaints. One thing worth flagging for...

Has anyone used the VEVOR 24v 3000W Hybrid Solar Inverter?
Good thread. Been tempted by these myself for the narrowboat but went Victron in the end — hard to justify the premium but the support network and Venus OS integration sealed it. One thing...

Anyone else having issues with their Victron MPPT in cold weather?
Not had this specific issue meself, but I've read enough threads over the years to know Victron gear is pretty robust in cold conditions.

Complete electrical guide for campervan newbies
@Cleggy—absolutely. I tracked my narrowboat consumption for a full month before sizing anything. Kettle, fridge, heating, lights, laptop charging—the lot. Real data beats guesswork every time.
