@PartnerAdventure the thing that finally made it stick for me was building my shepherd's hut system in stages and physically labelling every fuse with what it's protecting and its rating before I...
@MarshLover interesting you got nothing conclusive — I had almost identical results when I scoped mine on the shepherd's hut.
Running into something similar with my shepherd's hut setup and it's been gnawing at me for a while, so good to see this topic come up.
My situation: I've got a 24V Victron system — Multiplus,...
Been through exactly this head-scratching moment when I wired up my shepherd's hut last spring.
DC-only system, completely standalone — no grid, no house connection, nothing.
Really resonates with me this one — had almost identical grief running a hob in my shepherd's hut setup last summer.
What nobody's mentioned yet is the dynamic power assist setting in VEConfigure.

My shepherd's hut runs off a similar shared-circuit arrangement — single 32A feed from the house doing double duty. The key thing nobody's mentioned is interlocking.
Been logging data through VRM for about 14 months now on the hut and it's genuinely fascinating watching how the system behaves across the seasons.

Mine's not a narrowboat — it's a shepherd's hut on a remote hillside — but the MultiPlus behaviour you're describing rings very familiar bells.
What sorted it for me was...

Running my shepherd's hut full-time off-grid gave me an accidental masterclass in this.
After two years of faffing, the hut is actually producing useful power. Went with a pair of 200W Renogy panels on the roof and a Victron SmartSolar 100/20 MPPT, feeding a single 100Ah Fogstar...
@DODNerd — classic top-of-charge drama, that. Had exactly this with my shepherd's hut build last spring.
Finally got the hut positioned on the south-facing slope of the field last autumn and have been slowly piecing together a system ever since.
@HUO_Boats funny you should say this — my shepherd's hut setup went through almost the same soul-searching.

@TelHall I ran a similar thought experiment when I was speccing out my shepherd's hut setup.

@ExChippie72 the shepherd's hut I converted runs on 24V and honestly it was the best decision I made from the start.
