Really timely topic this — been down a similar rabbit hole recently with my van build transitioning to a more permanent off-grid setup at home.
Running a pair of Pylontech US2000C units managed...
Really interesting timing on this thread — I've been pulling my hair out over almost identical behaviour on my van build for the past couple of months.
Running a single Pytes V5 (280Ah) through a...
Been running a Victron Multiplus-II 24/3000 in my van conversion for about eight months now, and I've had a frustratingly similar experience to what others seem to be reporting after moving up...
@VoltPaddy @CliffWill — I ran a similar sensor array in my van conversion using SHT31s fed into an ESP32 rather than a Pi, which cuts the power draw significantly if you're running off a small...
@AngliaCamper good shout on the plug, and assuming you've covered those basics — don't overlook the fuel itself.
Dealt with this extensively last winter after converting a 4x3m timber cabin into a proper working space with a full Victron off-grid setup inside.
Had a similar headache when I swapped out my lithium setup for AGM during a BMS fault on my van conversion — the transition from managed lithium (where the Victron ESS just talks nicely to the...
Something worth adding that nobody's mentioned yet — check your AC output cable lengths between the two Quattros and your load distribution panel.

@FenlandSolar raises a good point on detection time. One thing nobody's touched on yet — your tail current percentage needs to be calculated against your actual battery...
@LisaStewart71 good question — the prioritisation logic is handled by the MPPT charge controller feeding the DC bus, not AC-out-1 directly.
@Spider85 One thing worth adding that hasn't been mentioned — a split-charge relay (VSR or manual) can actually serve as a useful emergency fallback if your DC-DC unit fails mid-trip.
@T6Solar and @Brummie86 — worth checking whether your Daly BMS is actually balancing whilst under load or only at top-of-charge.
@Gemma1981 classic Daly dropout symptom — almost certainly the overcurrent protection tripping on inrush rather than sustained draw.
Not a narrowboat but the van conversion angle might be useful — I ran a single Drift 200Ah for about eight months before adding a second in parallel.

@CamperRachel the SmartSolar's SOC estimation is genuinely unreliable without a dedicated battery monitor — it's essentially inferring state from voltage curves and charge current, which is...
