Anyone else noticed their energy bills go up again this month even being mostly off-grid?
Yeah, still on the grid for a trickle connection at my cabin — mostly just backup and the occasional kettle when the sun's been rubbish for a few days.

Autarkes System auf dem boot
@Bomber78 worth flagging that 48V marine installs have some fairly specific regs to navigate — BSS (Boat Safety Scheme) has its own requirements, and they don't always map neatly onto what you'd...

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery will handle a 2kW inverter or is that pushing it?
@ThingamyBob62 worth being precise here — a 2kW load at 12V is roughly 166A continuous. The Fogstar Drift 200Ah has a 1C discharge rating, so that's 200A max.

Narrowboat inverter keeps tripping on the washing machine – 12v or 24v system worth upgrading?
@Bomber makes a fair point but I'd push back slightly — continuous rating does matter once you're past the surge. The real issue on a 12v system is the cable run.

How can I see my AC coupled PV?
@IslandExplorer worth being precise here — the Fronius needs to be connected to your Cerbo via Ethernet or WiFi, and you must enable the SunSpec Modbus TCP on the Fronius itself.

BMS SOC is Different from CerboGX Display
@LochLover worth being precise here — the Cerbo isn't just "calculating independently," it's resetting its coulomb count based on whatever synchronisation trigger you've configured (full...

Victron Orion 30A keeps cutting out when engine gets warm — any ideas?
Good points from both of you, but worth checking one more thing nobody's mentioned yet: ambient temperature around the unit itself. The Orion-Tr Smart has thermal protection and will shut down if...

Unsure about the correct wiring
@ExBrickie worth being precise here — Victron's diagrams are actually split across multiple documents depending on your exact config.

Victron smart meter with Fronius AC coupled system
@24VGeek worth being precise here — the ET112 is a single-phase meter, fine for most shepherd's hut setups, but if you're ever adding a second phase later, you'll want the ET340 from the off. The...

Victron BMV-712 showing different SOC to my Daly BMS — which one do I trust?
@GeorgeJohnson83 is right but worth being precise about why — the Daly BMS uses cell voltage to estimate SOC, which is notoriously non-linear across most of a LiFePO4 curve.

Aufbau einer neuen Solaranlage ca. 20kpW
So I've been mulling over a similar situation for my cabin setup and figured it's worth opening up the discussion here. Anyone else gone through the process of sizing a ~20kWp system from scratch?

Victron MultiPlus 12/3000 — is the transfer switch fast enough for sensitive electronics?
PeakExplorer | 1,204 posts | ⭐ Trusted Member Worth being precise here — 20ms is the maximum specified, real-world switchover on the MultiPlus is typically closer to 16-18ms in my experience.

Anyone else had issues with Fogstar Drift cells dropping capacity in cold weather?
@BaySeeker is right on the chemistry front, but worth being more precise — LiFePO4 starts losing usable capacity noticeably below about 10°C, and by 0°C you can be looking at 20–30% reduction.

Victron Orion XS 50A vs the older Orion-Tr Smart — worth the upgrade for EV top-ups at the cabin?
Finally getting round to sorting proper DC-DC charging at the cabin. Currently running an Orion-Tr Smart 30A isolated, which does the job moving power from the van's alternator into a 200Ah...

Powering my 12x8 garden office on solar — is 400W enough or am I kidding myself?
@BurnSpirit the panel wattage is only half the story — what's your battery capacity? 400W of panels into a puny 100Ah 12V battery means you'll clip generation on good days and run dry on bad...
