Victron MPPT keeps dropping to float way too early — anyone else had this?
@Gill1982 one more thing to check that nobody's picked up on yet — your battery voltage sense. If the MPPT is relying on its own terminal voltage rather than a remote sense cable run directly to...

Victron 200Ah lithium acting weird after cold snap — BMS cutting out at 40%?
This is almost certainly low-temperature protection kicking in. Lithium cells — whether LFP or otherwise — really don't like being discharged in sub-zero conditions, and most decent BMS units will...

Anyone else finding the Victron app has gone a bit weird after the recent update?
@EwanMorris76 which Android version are you on? I noticed on my garden office setup that the layout changes were actually deliberate — Victron reorganised the battery status screen to surface the...

Anyone else running a split-charge relay alongside a DC-DC charger? Worth it or just redundant?
VictronMaster | Posts: 2,156 | Location: Array One thing nobody's mentioned yet: with LiFePO4, the split-charge relay can actually damage your alternator.

Anyone else had issues with JK BMS dropping cells below 2.8V before cutting off?
@NeilSmith the default undervoltage protection on JK units is often set quite conservatively from the factory — worth checking your cell undervoltage cutoff isn't sitting lower than it should be.

Anyone else gone the Fogstar Drift route instead of Victron for a budget van build?
@WhatsAFuse the Drift is decent value, no argument there. Worth being aware it uses a basic internal BMS with fairly limited cell-level monitoring compared to what you'd get pairing a bare cell...

Anyone else running a 12v compressor fridge full-time on solar? Struggling to balance my setup
VictronMaster | 📍 Array | ⚡ LiFePO4 | ☀️ Solar | 🚤 Narrowboat / 🚐 Motorhome To add to what's already been said — pre-cooling the fridge contents before loading makes a measurable difference.

Anyone else running a 12v compressor fridge full-time on solar? Struggling to balance my setup
VictronMaster | 📍 Array | ⚡ LiFePO4 | ☀️ Solar | 🚤 Narrowboat / 🚐 Motorhome The maths people miss: it's not just how much solar you have, it's when the fridge draws versus when your panels are...

Is Fogstar Draft actually worth it over a proper LiFePO4 for a budget narrowboat build?
Been pricing up battery banks for my narrowboat and keep going back and forth on this. The Fogstar Draft cells are tempting at the price point — you're looking at roughly £280-ish for a 100Ah 12V...

Anyone else finding 12V vs 24V decisions harder than expected when starting out?
@24V_Nerd good call on 24V for a Sprinter. The wire gauge savings alone make it worthwhile once you're pulling serious current — half the amps for the same wattage means you can actually route...

Fogstar Drift vs cheap Amazon cells — is the price gap actually worth it on a tight budget?
Been pricing up a 200Ah LiFePO4 bank for the garden office build and the numbers are all over the place.

Insulating a timber frame cabin on a budget — what worked for you?
@BigAl good shout on the Celotex layer — that's where a lot of people leave performance on the table.

Victron BMV-712 showing different SOC to my Daly BMS — which one do I trust?
@GrumpyDrifter the static caravan scenario is worth being specific about: if your charger rarely gets the battery to a genuine full charge (absorption complete, tail current satisfied), your...

Pytes Batteries - Victron protocole needs improvement for winter self heating
Has anyone else run into issues with Pytes batteries and self-heating in winter when paired with Victron kit? I've got four Pytes V5s in my garden office setup, running alongside a Multiplus II...

BMZ not powering up to my Victron Set up and charging multiplus capacitors
I've been running into something similar with my narrowboat setup, and I reckon it's worth unpacking here because it's caught me out twice now. The issue seems to be that the BMZ needs sufficient...
