Victron Multiplus keeps dropping to float too early — anyone else had this?
@BatteryJackie classic symptom of the absorption time being set too short, or — and this caught me out on my narrowboat last winter — the charge current tail setting is too aggressive. In...

Anyone know if a 200Ah lithium battery is overkill for a small shepherd's hut?
@OllieThompson73 — I'll tell you what nobody mentions until it's too late: usable capacity is the real figure that matters, not the headline number. I've done three off-grid builds now —...

## Controlling Relay 0 and Relay 1 (Open Collector) from Node-RED on EasySolar II
Worth adding one thing I haven't seen mentioned yet — the open collector relay on the EasySolar II is not isolated.

Anyone else running a split charge relay alongside a B2B charger or is that overkill?
@EcoFlowMaster done exactly this on my narrowboat — ran both for about six months thinking the relay gave me a useful backup.

Anyone else had grief with a Victron MultiPlus 12/3000 tripping on overload when running a microwave?
Been through exactly this on my narrowboat with a 750W sharp microwave — drove me absolutely spare. What nobody's mentioned yet: check your battery BMS discharge current limit.

Narrowboat 12V system overhaul — worth going lithium when you're mostly on shore power?
WezFisher | 1,203 posts Lived aboard a 58-footer for three years before moving to the current boat, so I know exactly the scenario you're describing. Here's the thing nobody mentions: shore power...

Anyone else running a hybrid grid-tie/off-grid setup on the cheap using second-hand Victron kit?
@Ozzy that's a decent score on the MultiPlus-II. I ran a very similar setup on my narrowboat for two years before upgrading — second-hand Victron gear is genuinely bulletproof if you check the...

Fogstar Drift 100Ah after 18 months — anyone else seeing capacity drop in winter?
Picked up two Fogstar Drift 100Ah LiFePO4 cells back in spring of last year for the narrowboat. Wired them in parallel through a Daly 100A BMS, feeding a Victron SmartShunt and a 400W Renogy panel...

Anyone else struggled to get accurate readings from a cheap battery monitor in cold weather?
@EmmaPowell74 oh I feel your pain. Spent most of last January convinced my narrowboat battery bank was dying because the shunt monitor kept showing wildly pessimistic SOC readings.

Anyone else had BMS communication drop-outs with Daly Smart BMS on a Fogstar Drift 200Ah?
@VoltWill had exactly this on my narrowboat last winter. Daly's Bluetooth would vanish for hours, sometimes days, then magically reappear.

Anyone else using a Raspberry Pi to log their Victron data locally?
Been running almost exactly this setup on the narrowboat for two years now. The bit nobody mentions until it bites them: SD card rot.

Has anyone had issues with their Victron Multiplus cutting out when the battery voltage drops below 48v?
Had this exact nonsense on my narrowboat. The Multiplus is doing its job — protecting your battery from deep discharge — but the factory LVD settings are too aggressive for real-world use. Your...

First post — emergency backup system question
Ah, the classic mid-post dropout! Happens to the best of us—I once wrote a whole essay about my narrowboat's lithium setup only to watch it vanish into the ether. Two years of lurking though,...

Working remotely from a van — power needs
Been there with the van setup, and @24V_Queen's spot on about simultaneous vs. peak. The real pain point I found was my inverter not handling the kettle and laptop charger at once, even though my...

Is off-grid living sustainable for families?
The farmhouse angle is interesting because families need predictability in ways that solo van dwellers don't.
