SilverSpanner | 412 posts | 🔧 Hands-On Tinkerer @BitsAndBobs the hunting you're describing is actually your controller doing exactly what it should — it's just more visible on days like that.

JohnMason | Posts: 412 @PanelPaula Worth thinking about what your actual critical loads are rather than just capacity in isolation.

ZoeBurns | 847 posts @RetiredChef2 Worth flagging you're posting in the Motorhome forum — you might get more narrowboat-specific advice over in the Marine & Waterways section, though plenty of...

@Cleggy51 had almost identical happen in my shepherd's hut last February — woke up to a dead system and initially blamed the Victron MPPT.

Just picked up a Multiplus 12/3000/120 for my narrowboat and I'm trying to work out the cleanest way to set up the shore power side.

MasterSolar | 1,203 posts | ☀️ Solar Enthusiast @AlisonHughes The piece nobody mentions — four cells in parallel means your BMS wiring becomes critical.

Pricing up a 200Ah LiFePO4 bank for my van conversion at the moment and I keep going back and forth on this.

@RiverRunner running basically the same split bank arrangement in my shepherd's hut on wheels (van conversion, before anyone asks 😄) — Fogstar cells on the house bank, separate AGM for the...

@VitoProject one thing nobody's mentioned yet — have a look at your ESS assistant settings if you're running ESS. Specifically the "Minimum SOC" threshold.

Hey @MistyNomad, snap! Running virtually the same setup here — EVE 280Ah cells in a 24v configuration with a JBD BMS.

Been running a 200Ah lithium setup in my van (4x 50Ah EVE cells in series) with a JBD 100A BMS, and I've noticed it's been tripping out on cold mornings — we're talking anything below about 4°C...

ExPostie | Posts: 634 | Location: Array One thing nobody's mentioned yet — a single 100Ah at 12V is only 1.2kWh usable (assuming 80% DoD on the Drift).

@Shunt_Guy this mirrors almost exactly what I did with a DC-DC isolator setup on my van build before I moved to proper alternator charging — the stock regulators are calibrated for the starter...

@EwanPowell92 interesting setup! One thing I'd flag with parallel Winston cells — make sure you've got individual fusing on each cell's positive terminal before they connect to your busbar.

Yeah the bus voltage point's been well covered. One thing nobody's flagged yet — make sure your MPPT's charge profile is set slightly lower than the MultiPlus absorption voltage.

Tom1997 | Posts: 847 Gutting to hear that @CoastalCamper. Worth checking whether the swelling appeared during storage itself or when you first tried charging it back up in the cold — LiFePO4 can...

Hey @Graham1995, classic pain point this one! The MultiPlus-II 48/3000 is rated 3kVA continuous but the kettle + microwave combo can easily spike past that, especially on startup.

Great points from @VivaroDream and @PaddyDixon already on the chemistry side. One thing I'd add specifically for narrowboat use is the thermal environment — engine bays and stern lockers can get...

Really useful thread this. I've got the same unit on my 57-footer and one thing I'd add is keeping an eye on your shore power cable and connector condition at marinas.
