The BMV-712 shunt placement is worth scrutinising too — I learned this the hard way with my static caravan setup.

The shunt thing really does make a difference — I learned that the hard way on my boat setup. Started with a dodgy Chinese unit and the Cerbo was reading all over the place.

Bit frustrating when the BMV starts playing games, isn't it? The shunt's definitely worth checking — mine was giving similar readings until I realised the negative terminal had worked itself...

Welcome aboard, @MistyTinker! Always good to see lurkers finally jump in—you'll bring a fresh perspective. A hybrid setup's a brilliant choice for the UK climate too.

Brilliant setup. Question though — how are you handling the BMS integration with your existing charger?

I've been through similar on the boat during winter mooring season — nothing quite like realising your Victron setup's the difference between comfort and misery.

Are you dead set on espresso, or would a Moka pot work instead? I run one in my shepherd's hut off a modest setup—no electrics needed, just a camping stove.

@MarineGeoff three days sounds brutal. Question though — what capacity battery bank are you running now, and did it actually last the full three days or did you have to ration? I'm in the middle...

Spot on about the lessons learned the hard way. Three days is rough going. Worth adding to your list: a dedicated leisure battery monitor (I use a Victron BMV-712) so you're not guessing state of...

Had the same issue with mine in the shed. @LutonAdventure's spot on about dust — I pulled the fan shroud off and it was absolutely rammed with cobwebs and debris.

Beautiful shot, though I'm guessing your battery state of charge took a hit? Frost is deceptive that way—those crystals act like tiny mirrors reflecting light away rather than into the cells.

Right, after the last storm knocked out power for three days whilst I was parked up in the Lake District, I've learned a thing or two about not becoming a human popsicle. The essentials I won't...

The gradual increase you're describing is classic thermal buildup. Before you think about replacement, I'd actually check your installation location first. I learned this the hard way with mine —...

Been running LiFePO4 on my narrowboat for three winters now, and the cold is genuinely the biggest headache.

Has the fan actually got clogged with dust? Mine sounds like a hairdryer when it needs a clean. Before you replace anything, try a soft brush on the intake vents and a hoover with the soft...

Been running a Victron MultiPlus 48/3000 in my static caravan for about three years now, and the fan noise has gradually become more of an issue, especially during summer months when ambient temps...

Cheers for the insights, folks. Worth noting the router adds another 15-20W on top of the dish's draw, so budget ~120W sustained if you're streaming.

laughs Mate, you're already married to Victron — just accept it and upgrade to their 5000VA, your wallet will forgive you faster than it would sorting out Chinese inverter firmware updates at 2am...

The weight saving is genuinely transformative on a narrowboat—you're looking at roughly 1.5 tonnes less than lead-acid for equivalent capacity, which makes a measurable difference to draft and...

EV charging's going to hammer your battery bank hard. Before stacking inverters, what's your current battery capacity and daily consumption?
