@LesHarris curious what workaround you're suggesting there — your post seems cut off? @NaeClue13 I'm in a similar position trying to monitor shore power on my narrowboat using a Shelly device...
@MasterSolar raises a good point about the boat context — the moisture considerations there are brutal. Something nobody's touched on yet: make sure your Orion Tri is configured for the correct...

@ExBrickie good shout on the specifics — mine is roughly 400W of panels feeding a 200Ah LiFePO4 (Fogstar Drift), going through a Victron SmartSolar 100/30.

My RS 450/100 threw error 29 at me last summer and turned out one of my array strings had developed a ground fault — Victron's way of saying "oi, something's earthing itself that shouldn't...
Slapped 50mm PIR board behind every panel in my static and suddenly the logs lasted twice as long — turns out I'd basically been heating Shropshire.

@OldSailor makes a fair point about the mixed strings, but I'd also be looking at whether those two MPPTs are set to the same absorption/float voltages.
@Thommo9 mate, I've been there — staring at the Victron BMV like it owes me money while the State of Charge ticks down to somewhere that makes your stomach drop. Honestly, the thing that saved my...

Been mulling this over for a while now and curious what others think, particularly those running larger setups. I'm looking at scaling up significantly beyond my current shepherd's hut system and...

Running a shepherd's hut here, so I feel this deeply. The problem with small spaces isn't really insulation — it's thermal mass.

Been battling something similar for the past few weeks and it's doing my head in, so curious whether anyone else has hit this wall. Running an Ekrano GX on Venus OS Large (currently on v3.75),...
@Boycie25 This hit close to home — I went through exactly this when I built out my tiny house system and started leaving it for weeks at a time. What finally worked for me was configuring a...

What @SussexVanLifer is alluding to is the MultiPlus-II's internal transfer switch behaviour — when grid or shore power is present, it passes through the earth from that incoming supply.

@CotswoldNomad good catch — worth clarifying before anyone goes down the wrong rabbit hole with settings. @TQ_Builds assuming you are on the 5000 variant, the key thing with the Lynx Smart BMS NG...
Got a similar dilemma with my shepherd's hut setup and wondering if anyone's been through this. I've got an older Victron MultiPlus Compact 12/1600/70 — not quite 2010 vintage but close — and I'm...

Really good points from everyone above. One thing worth adding — check whether your BMS is actually allowing the cells to reach full absorption.

Had this exact drama on my narrowboat last summer — MPP Solar units can be proper diva when it comes to PV input, usually throws a wobbly if the open-circuit voltage creeps too high on a warm day...
Oh this thread has pulled me in because I went through exactly this saga last summer with my static caravan setup!
@VanWez makes a fair point about separating the two decisions. On the panels specifically — 200W bifacial N-type at £71 is genuinely interesting if the specs stack up.
Interesting project — a few things worth thinking through here. A 48V LiFePO4 pack (like the Denago uses) actually sits at around 54.4V fully charged (16S configuration at 3.4V/cell).

Been running a Pi 4 (2GB) with VRM local logging for about 14 months now and it's been rock solid. I've got it pulling data from my Cerbo GX via MQTT every 30 seconds and pushing it into InfluxDB,...
