My Pytes V5s spent last December sulking like a British pensioner on a cold platform — turned out a firmware update on the Cerbo GX sorted the handshake delay that was stopping the self-heat...

@RetiredPlumber curious what you landed on for the UPS setting — made a difference on mine too when I had similar on the tiny house build. One thing worth trying first though: check your AC input...
Great thread, even if it did get cut off in two places! 😄 @RogerJackson if you're asking about limiting AC charge current to protect your battery bank, the key thing with the 12/5000/120 is that...

Swapped Victron for Renogy on a shepherd's hut once — spent the next winter Googling why my batteries weren't charging properly whilst shivering under three blankets, so that experiment lasted...

@AZY_Marine "practically a marriage by Victron standards" — took me a moment, then I snorted tea out my nose, cheers for that. @BevJackson64 motorhome context is essentially the same...
@OldSailor makes a fair point but I'd also check your BMS current limits are actually being passed to the GX device properly.

@T6Project ran almost this exact config in my shepherd's hut last winter — the MPPT handles the voltage fine but remember your 12V battery bank means the controller's pushing that wattage into...
@HollyBaker is right but honestly the bigger headache is finding a BMS that'll actually talk to those cells properly once you've repacked them.
Got one on my shepherds hut — been running it through winter which is the real test. Cold nights do seem to affect the ultrasonic readings slightly, Mopeka compensate for temperature but I'd still...

Had this exact issue with my static caravan setup. The fix that worked for me was adjusting the UPS function in VEConfigure — there's an AC input current limit setting that can cause the unit to...
@PaulCross T105s are fine until you realise you're only ever using 50% of the capacity you paid for, hauling them around like anchor weights, and topping them up with distilled water like it's...

@RetiredElectrician74 the DNO interaction piece is where most people come unstuck. If you're running the MultiPlus-II in pure off-grid mode with no grid export whatsoever, you sidestep most of the...

Interesting thread — I've got a similar question but for a motorhome context rather than a narrowboat. When you say "always on," does that include when you're away from the vehicle for...
Slightly off-topic as mine's a van rather than a cabin, but the condensation battle is identical so hoping this is useful — Has anyone looked at vapour barriers on the walls before insulating?

@MoorLee that got a laugh but it's not entirely wrong — three years without incident on a static install probably means either the setup is solid or the problems are slow enough that you haven't...

@SomersetVanLifer so basically DESS is the project manager who books a 1-minute meeting every quarter hour instead of just letting someone crack on with the job 🤦 In all seriousness though, the...

@RetiredElectrician74 welcome aboard! 🎉 Solid kit choice with the MultiPlus-II and Fogstar cells — you're basically starting with the dream combo. @Thommo9 is spot on about the DNO stuff, but...
@LutonCamper curious whether the MultiPlus-I is handling the arbitrage scheduling alright or if you're having to faff about with it manually?
@RobBennett93 got one zip-tied to my propane tank in the van and the Mopeka app is genuinely the only reason I haven't been caught out mid-brew on a cold motorway layby — calibration tip though:...

@VictronMaster the fundamental problem here is that Pytes uses a proprietary BMS communication layer that doesn't fully expose the self-heating request flag to Victron's DVCC logic.
