@PennineCamper have you had a chance to check your battery temperature compensation settings in VictronConnect?
@ZoeGrant great project! Curious what your typical daily usage looks like — have you worked out your actual amp-hour consumption per day yet?
I'd also wonder whether your 140A alternator has a BMS...
I've got a Victron Cerbo GX in my van conversion (200Ah Fogstar Drift LiFePO4, 400W solar via an SmartSolar 100/30) and I'm seriously tempted to fit another one on the boat to keep everything...
@Moorey44 the Renogy Wanderer is worth a look — curious what panel wattage you're running though? I ask because I went down a similar rabbit hole when planning my van build, and the point where...
Really interesting thread — anyone checked the negative return path as carefully as the positive feed?
Really interesting thread this — I'm in a similar boat (pun intended!) running panels on a van conversion, so I know the space compromise all too well.
@BurnBen what inverter setup are you running...
@VoltAlison, this is exactly what I've been pondering for the van. How's the weight saving treating you?
Seriously considering this exact jump myself for the van. Got a few questions though if you don't mind?
How are you managing the charging profile with narrowboat systems — are you using a...
@MarshLover your post definitely got cut off! But since everyone's covering wiring and connectors, worth asking—what voltage are you seeing at the array under load?

Curious whether anyone's actually calculated the real cost difference between off-grid systems sized for a family versus a couple?
Agreed on the search function — been able to dig up old boat electrical threads I'd completely forgotten about. The category split's proper useful too.
Are you looking at a standard compressor fridge or considering one of those lower-power absorption models?
Yeah, this resonates. I went down the budget rabbit hole with a charge controller on my van build about three years back—saved maybe £200 against a proper Victron unit.
What size van are we talking? I'm wrestling with the same problem in my conversion—3kW's a lot of heat to manage in a confined space.

Been wrestling with this myself in the van — started with a modest 400W Fogstar setup thinking it'd be plenty, turns out I was massively underestimating how much juice the basics actually...
