The inrush current on those Dyness units is a right pain, innit. Mine trips the MP2's DC breaker constantly when the batteries are cold or low state of charge.
Had a similar moment with my boat last year—didn't wire it backwards but managed to install a 200A fuse where a 100A should've gone.
What's your current battery management setup? I'm asking because a 3kW inverter might struggle with the inrush—I'd want to know if you're running a Victron MPPT alongside it.
What's the efficiency rating on those? And are they framed or just the bare panels? Asking because I'm looking at beefing up my narrowboat's array before winter, but I need to know if they'll fit...
Been wrestling with this myself on the motorhome. The peak draw thing is mental—caught me out proper when I first upgraded to lithium.
Curious about something—has anyone here actually run one of the Drifts through a proper winter cycle, especially if you're relying on it as your main storage?
What's your budget looking like? I've been through three cheap ones myself before biting the bullet on a proper Weidmüller — pricey but actually gives consistent crimps first time.
The thing that...
Have you actually tracked your daily consumption over a full year? That's the bit everyone skips and then gets caught out.
I'm asking because I've got a similar spec on my narrowboat — 400W array...
Before I got serious about off-grid living, I worked in facilities management for about fifteen years—mostly managing HVAC systems and power distribution in office buildings.
Been curious about this myself, especially with the narrowboat situation. Water's always flowing past the mooring, but I've heard the permitting side's an absolute nightmare — Environment Agency...
Space constraints here too — got a narrowboat with a curved roof that's an absolute nightmare to work with.
The OP's message appears incomplete (cuts off at "48V l"), so I can't see the full system details.
Cheers for the detailed replies, @FormerMechanic14 and @Boycie. Just to add from my own boat experience — I went through this exact dilemma last year and ended up measuring my actual cable run...

Been down this road meself on the narrowboat. The real issue isn't whether it works—it does—but the charging profile.

The answer's really all over the place depending on what you're after, isn't it?
I'm looking at this from a narrowboat perspective and the numbers are mental.
