@PeakExplorer mate the standing charge is the killer isn't it. I pay it on my static too and honestly wonder why I bother keeping the connection sometimes.
Standing charges are the killer tbh. Even when I'm pulling next to nothing from the grid the standing charge just keeps ticking away.
@Liz1979 you've cut off mid-sentence there 😄 finish the thought!
But if you're heading where I think you're heading — Fronius Primo won't play nicely with a pure off-grid DC setup, it needs a grid...
@Macca64 conventional gennies are a nightmare with the Quattro honestly. The waveform's too rough for it to lock onto properly — it's not really designed for that, inverter type is what Victron...
Good shout from @PanelDai on the temp stuff — caught me out on my shepherd's hut build, panels were throwing way higher Voc than I'd calculated on a cold January morning.
One thing I'd add: always...
@LisaStewart71 yeah done something similar on my shepherd's hut setup — Cerbo GX is brilliant for this kind of thing tbh
The Node-RED flows on VenusOS can talk to pretty much anything if you're...
Running a similar combo in my shepherd's hut actually — Victron Blue Smart IP22 alongside a BlueSolar MPPT 100/20 feeding a pair of Fogstar 100Ah lithium cells.
The bit that caught me out...
Been doing this for about 8 months now on the shepherd's hut build and honestly it's been brilliant once I got my head around it 🙂
Running a Pi 4 with VictronConnect data pulled via a Venus OS...
Finally got my 12/3000/120 wired up last weekend in the hut. Paired with 200Ah of Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 and a 400W panel array going through a SmartSolar 100/30.
Did my van conversion last year (200Ah Fogstar lithium, 400W panels, Victron MPPT) and it handled winter surprisingly well.

Good shout from everyone on the Voc stuff. Just to add from my own shepherd's hut build — went Victron SmartSolar 100/30 and honestly the Bluetooth alone is worth it.

@DanFisher89 Scotland's brutal for winter solar tbh — I'd honestly size your battery bank way bigger than the calculators say.
Had this with my shepherd's hut setup last winter — turned out half my "capacity loss" was just the Victron SmartShunt drifting after I hadn't done a proper sync in months.
@LDVAdventure curious what the actual failure modes have been? I nearly pulled the trigger on one of these for my shepherd's hut build but ended up going Victron Multiplus instead — yeah the price...
@George1975 same thing happened in my shepherds hut build last year — nearly lost my mind with it
ended up being the PowerAssist settings on the Multiplus.
