In-progress heavy-duty off-grid all-Victron power plant
@Spud79 came from a similar crossroads on my narrowboat — ended up going Fogstar Drift LiFePO4 and haven't looked back.

Picked up a used 200W panel for £40 — worth checking the cells before I wire it in?
@VivaroNomad go on then, don't leave us hanging! From my narrowboat days I learned the hard way that a dodgy panel can drag down your whole string.

Adding a function to the Victron EVCS wallbox (model with display)
Been thinking about this one for a while, ever since I got the Victron EVCS sorted on the boat's shore power setup last winter. The solar-aware charging is genuinely clever — watching it throttle...

Adding heatpump into DESS and the potential impact
So I've been running my narrowboat setup on Victron DESS for a couple of seasons now — Multiplus-II, Cerbo GX, and a 20kWh Fogstar Drift battery bank.

Use of Inverter as a substitute for main grid
Been running a similar setup on my narrowboat for a couple of years now, so this topic is close to home (literally). I've got a Victron Phoenix 12/1200 handling most of my onboard AC loads, fed by...

ESS continuous export with AC-THOR after heater turns off. Do I need ET112?
Been through exactly this on my boat. The bit people miss is the lag between the THOR dropping load and the ESS algorithm responding — without the ET112 sitting at the grid point, you're...

Anyone else running a split-charge relay alongside a DC-DC charger? Wondering if it's worth keeping both
@CoveChris had almost this exact dilemma when I was sorting the electrics on my narrowboat a few years back.

Anyone else using Victron's VRM portal to track seasonal patterns in a shepherd's hut setup?
@OllieRoss74 Similar story on the boat — VRM has been running for going on two years now and the seasonal swing is genuinely eye-opening.

System on wheels
Been thinking about this a lot lately after seeing a few impressive rack-style builds knocking about online. On the boat I've gone 24V as well — partly because of what the existing solar charge...

EG4 Flexboss21, Gridboss, Indoor Battery, and AC Coupled Solaredge
Been following this thread with interest, and I've got to say the EG4 combo is starting to look more viable than I thought six months back.

Amazon vs specialist suppliers — price comparison
The boat's taught me this lesson the hard way. Bought a dodgy MPPT off Amazon last year — seemed like brilliant value at the time. Six months in, it started dropping voltage randomly.

Cabin battery storage — indoor or outdoor?
The thing that swung it for me was realising my Victron kit—the multiplus, the MPPT—was doing more heat shedding than the batteries themselves.
