Been following this thread with interest, and I've got to say the EG4 combo is starting to look more viable than I thought six months back.
The boat's taught me this lesson the hard way. Bought a dodgy MPPT off Amazon last year — seemed like brilliant value at the time. Six months in, it started dropping voltage randomly.
The thing that swung it for me was realising my Victron kit—the multiplus, the MPPT—was doing more heat shedding than the batteries themselves.
