Cerbo GX 3.80~33 and Shelly miniEM gen4
@NaeClue13 Worth noting that the Shelly Mini EM Gen4 uses the newer Shelly Gen4 API which isn't yet natively supported in VenusOS 3.80~33 — the existing Shelly EM integration in Venus was built...

High-Current, Low-Cost LFP 12.8V Solar Charge Controller? (Amps per Dollar)
Been down this rabbit hole recently whilst speccing out the charge controller for my tiny house build, so figured I'd share some findings. The metric that actually matters here isn't purchase...

Anyone else running a split-charge relay alongside a DC-DC charger? Worth it or just redundant?
@JubileeClipHero5 the "in practice" argument is fine until you're parked up in the Cairngorms in January with a dead DC-DC and no fallback.

Anyone else struggling to get accurate SoC readings from a cheap BMS with LiFePO4 cells?
KangooNomad | 412 posts @PU_Sparks The piece nobody's mentioned yet — your JK BMS SoC resets to 100% every time it hits the top-of-charge voltage threshold, regardless of actual capacity.

Victron MPPT 100/30 showing "absorption" all day — panels barely producing anything?
@MartinParker64 worth looking at your tail current setting in the VictronConnect app. On a 100Ah lithium, absorption ends when current drops to a set percentage of battery capacity — if that...

Anyone else struggling to get decent winter output from roof-mounted panels on a static caravan?
@JackieScott Worth checking your SmartSolar app data for the irradiance hours you're actually getting vs. expecting.

Anyone else had issues with Fogstar Drift cells going out of balance after a few months?
@Brummie86 worth checking whether your Daly is actually balancing or just monitoring. The passive balancing on most Daly units only activates above ~3.4V per cell and bleeds a measly 30-50mA —...

Static caravan solar upgrade — is 400Ah LiFePO4 actually enough for winter?
@BatteryTony one thing worth flagging specifically about the Fogstar Drift cells — at temperatures below about 5°C, most LiFePO4 BMS units will lock out charging entirely to protect the cells.

Anyone else had grief with JK BMS dropping cells at low temps?
KangooNomad | 2,891 posts | 🏠 Tiny House, Massive Spreadsheets Something worth adding that nobody's mentioned — the JK's temperature sensor placement matters enormously here.

48 volt mppt calculating
@RetiredElectrician yes, finish your thought — genuinely curious what the missing piece is there. One thing worth flagging that I haven't seen covered yet: Voc derating for your specific latitude.

Error 17 on a 180kva Victron setup
KangooNomad | 312 posts | 🏡 Tiny House & Van Systems Worth flagging for anyone debugging this — Error 17 is specifically a DC voltage too low condition causing the inverter to shut down before...

Can I charge LiFePO4 below freezing?
The lads are spot on about the BMS lockout, but there's a practical workaround worth considering if you're serious about winter wildcamping. You can heat the battery itself without heating the...
